The NYCHA smoke laws are a joke, I can't smoke weed in my own apartment where I Pay rent meanwhile there's ALWAYS garbage & waterbugs/rats the size of Raccoon's behind my building, there's ALWAYS urine in my elevator's & staircases, sometimes even human feces (I once slipped & fell on urine going down the stairs), the intercom hasn't EVER worked in 34 YEARS living in housing, the elevator's nor the staircases have camera's yet you want to expedite this stupid no smoking law over all these other more pressing issues.

There's no building personnel/package room, the building door is ALWAYS broken on both sides resulting in stolen packages & the homeless coming into our building & relieving themselves on our elevators/stairwells & sleeping in different parts of the building, people have literally been murdered in apartments/staircases & thrown off rooftops yet somehow THEY OVERLOOK ALL OF THAT just to stop little ol me from smoking a blunt in my own apartment where I pay the rent. I should be able to grow my weed legally & smoke it in my apartment without nobody bothering me & whoever has a problem with that can either PAY MY RENT or buy a quality air purification system but somehow it's okay for them to tell me what I can & can't do in my apartment.

I'm also against smoking outside your apartment (within the building & overall entire complex), I'm not stupid I know kids are back & forth all the time but I don't have kids in my apartment so why is it okay to let them affect my household when I pay my own rent? Why do I have to exit my apartment & spend money I don't have when I can just grow it myself? The solution isn't to stop EVERYONE from smoking in housing it's about cracking down on the few whom are disrespectful & smoke out in the complex outside of their apartment's, with a little diligence you'd see it really isn't that hard to find out who those few people are, some people need to smoke for pain purposes & now they can't grow it or smoke it in their own apartment because of how someone else feels, is that fair? ABSOLUTELY NOT!

It's crazy how they say the smell of weed bothers them but the smell of urine & feces & dead decomposed rats doesn't? There's other solutions that could allow for everyone to have their way, even just allowing NYCHA tenants to grow the Marijuana is good enough because even though I now have to take a walk 25ft off the complex to smoke it at least I can grow it & not be forced to spend extra money on overpriced Marijuana in some fancy dispensary that I could've grown myself, marijuana is not an illegal substance anymore I should be able to at the very least grow the legal amount even if I'm not allowed to smoke it on nycha grounds, same how you can possess cigarette's in housing because they're not illegal you just can't smoke them within the complex.

Telling someone what they can & can't do is never the solution, you can't just tell life long smoker's to stop overnight that's inhumane, even hospital's give Methadone to recovering addicts you don't just say "Hey either you quit cold turkey or become homeless!" that's just wrong, even prisoners can smoke cigarette's! Please NYCHA re-assess this mess, there is a lot of entrepreneur potential going to waste we should be able to at least grow it!
