OCBC management of my unauthorized transactions
First and foremost I’m utterly pissed and disappointed at the manner OCBC handled my stolen credit cards issues.
I reported via phone & in person and even lodged an official report with OCBC providing supporting police reports & other documents pertaining to my stolen handbag with my credit cards whilst I was overseas in Apr 2018.
Purchases were made using my stolen cards amounting to about $1200
Till now Oct 2018 the matter had yet to be fully resolved as I’m still disputing the amount stolen with OCBC.
The funny thing is OCBC is charging me late payment charges & interests for the amount being disputed since Aug to Oct 2018 which has escalated to about $700 on top of the $1200 which they claimed I owed that was stolen from me.
You not only demanded me to pay back immediately even though the matter is still pending investigation but OCBC had even suspended my credit cards till further notice.
They even informed me that the cards will remain suspended even if I have repay them and I will have to reapply again if I want to use my credit cards with OCBC and it will be subjected to their review again.
What utter rubbish!! Did I ask for my cards to be stolen?? OCBC took more than 5 mths to investigate despite me filing the reports and had spoken to countless CSO and credit officers on a weekly basis clarifying the matter.
Why should I pay for the late charges & interest incurred on the amount stolen that was being investigated by OCBC and till now had yet to be resolved??
And this had indirectly caused my cards to be suspended and revoked??
Why do you have to go to such lengths to displeased and inconvenienced your customers??
Not that I asked to be robbed whilst on holiday. I did not ask for the matter to be unresolved for such a long period of time thus incurring the interests & late charges. It doesn’t seem fair for OCBC to slap me with theses charges & suspending my cards.
I have money stolen from my credit cards from other banks too but I don’t see them doing it to me. They handled it efficiently and professionally and they have since fully settled the matter even sooner than OCBC. I don’t have to pay for any late charges or interests on the disputed amount whilst awaiting for the final outcome.
I suggest that OCBC seriously look into their procedures of handling customer complaints of this nature or be prepared to lose more customers to their competitors.
Another thing is this suspension of my credit facilities better not affect my credit ratings with the credit bureau and this is the question that I have questioned the bank and have yet to get a reply.

Rigid Non Waiver of Credit Card Fees
The worst credit card service - late by 1 day and 3 days & whopping charges of more than $200 for total purchases of $700 to $800. Gave me veiled warning that my my credit rating will be affected if I refuse to pay the late charges. Appealed twice. They are worst than a loan-shark ! Avoid using their credit cards. Planning to cancel all my accounts including my business account. Have been with them for more than 15 years. They are getting worse !

Heartless Bank
OCBC is one heartless bank who only think of itself (I used It because it's meant for animals).
Did not make my minimum payment in full due to oversight, and they cancelled my credit cards and credit lines (did not miss a single payment) without informing me beforehand.
Heard from the collections officer that similar incidents happened to her customers, one of which underpaid by $60 bucks.
Will never deal with this bank again and hope its business goes downhill and share price falls everyday :)

OCBC as a Bank Cred Card Service Provider
First and foremost, I think the customer service officers (not including the CS managers) have been doing an above average service level jobs during all my encounters. My experiences are more or less same as the fellow forgetful pals here, who has overlook the payment either, we are overseas or the amount is very small to pay or living in different mailing address.
OCBC, however, has very clear policies for waiver. They probably will waive for the first time on late payment. However, the second or third times late payments will be very difficult as OCBC has added in layers of resistance to discourage late payments regardless on how minute the outstanfing amount is.
I have just cancelled 3 cards as of 24 APR 17; OCBC Robinson, 365 and NTUC. The last two cards were given to me in 2016 but I didnt make any transaction thus far.
OCBC had waived off few of my late payments charges in the past. To be honest, the oustanding amount (A) was always very small, between 50 to 200 dollars.
For the last encounter, i was traveling between Jan 17 to Apr 17 to few countries. (I did came back to Singapore between the traveling). And i totally forgotten one 80 plus dollars bill that I charged to OCBC credit card in Jan17. And i only foot this bill in mid March 17 without paying the late charges and interest. I was asked to pay around $160 plus in late payment and interest. The CS officers have tried 3 times to appeal for my late charges and interest. All were rejected till i asked to speak to the CS manager.
For your info, I was told by the CS manager, I will be charged for another month of late payment and interest if the previous 2 month late payment and interest are not paid by 28 April 17. So on the spot, i asked her, I already paid the principal in March, why OCBC still charge more on interest and late payment.
The answer which is true about OCBC values and policies;
CS manager:" Sir, this is our policy. it is in our service agreement when u signed up the card" ------THE TRUTH IS OUT and please read all rules and regulations when u sign up for any card. ( I am mocking here, becos if we were to read all terms and conditions, i think we will not sign up any credit card from any bank). My POINTs are, THE BANKS SHOULD ALWAYS;
1. On a case by case basis, look into at the OA as compared to the late payment charges plus interest that the bank want the consumer to pay. For my case, is about 200% of late payment and interest i have to pay for 2 months. And i don't denial is due to my oversight and forgetfulness.
2. Be considerate and flexible. In business, naturally we want efficient and effective operations readiness and on time payment by our client (which is we, consumer). But don't be too harsh on your clientele and chase them away. Very likely, it will leave a permenant bad taste in them and they will never return to your bank or take up your services. OCBC, FYI, my first mortage loan was from you. Will I take up your mortgage again, after this incident becos of $160 fime; i think is highly unlikely or impossible. ( you should do the maths, few Hundred thousands to a million dollar mortagage loan comapred to your fine)
3. what I would do differently as a credit card service providers and maybe OCBC policies makers can look into it:
a. understand the financial status of your clients, terminate those u think that will cause bad debt to your bank and preserve those that will contribute to your profit margins. FYI, i am a premium customer for DBS and I am a strong follower for UOB bank. I rejected OCBC bank premier banking services becos OCBC is very rigid in policies and lag of 'human touch'
b. Promote your cards to your cards' holder when u think those clients have spend too little on your card and still need waiver. Think again, why they are doing it. Likely is becos OCBC card no longer appeal to them, inconvenience to use as no easy payment to the OA has been setup, clients have better offer etc. Maybe OCBC has large credit cards base and don't really need to do it right now.
c. For my other two banks CC, I never had any issue with waiver if i overlook to pay on time. However, i had set up Giro deduction already. OCBC has never offer me with an appointment or online session to setup Giro right away. However, your CS have mentioned on how and where to do it. But they just never offer a way to do it right NOW. haha.....
Hope OCBC CC department and policies makers can read and understand. You guys are really rigid, harsh and cold. In addition, few of my ex-colleagues also have mentioned to me and had similiar situation.

OCBC is a "LOAN SHARK" Bank
My incident:
A late charge and interest charge (Feb late charge) was issued on my February statement. I called on 4 March 2017 requesting for a waiver and was told OCBC will revert within 5 working days.
Another set of late and interest charge (March late charge) was compounded on my March statement dated 7 March 2017.
I only received a text on the 9 March 2017 informing me that my request to waive the Feb late charge has been rejected.
When I called to explain, how could OCBC compounded another round of late charge on 7 March when my request for the Feb late charge is still under review.
The reply given was " Please pay up or another late charge (April late charge) will be issued.
Isn't this a "LOAN SHARK" operation on OCBC behalf

Annual Fee "Trap"
I have sign a OCBC Credit Card on 8/2014, according the credit card promoter, I will be enjoy and waive for the 2 years annual fee (with letter from OCBC). So, basically, my expectation for charging on annual fee will start on 8/2017 instead of 8/2016. What a surprisingly OCBC just bill me $ 80 of annual fee on 9/2016, much more irony that the bill was base on 8/2015 - 8/2016 and mention I didn't meet their minimum spending requirement (but according to my understanding, my spending in that particular year already excess OCBC minimum spending). If I'm not forgotten, this should be a period waive off annual fee, right ?
Before this, I have try walk-in and check with OCBC branch but the counter girl reply that she only able to receive the credit card application form but unable to make any decision on waiver of credit card annual fee. The only way is calling to service center. Seem no other option, I have to make a call to emotionless machine at service center and direct me key in all the details and waiting the SMS result, even without a chance to communicate with any tele-operator. OCBC bank service really WORST! Please give up all OCBC Credit Card.

Trick for promoting OCBC product
I was lured for earning higher interest rates with OCBC 360 account. To get bonus interests, I have credited my monthly salary to this deposit account and tried to apply their credit card. When I applied for the 365 credit card, I was asked to apply for the EasiCredit as well because it is "complementary" and I can't turn it down. The application of EasiCredit was approved in the following day, and the card and check book was sent to me in few days. However, after that, I was informed that my application for 365 credit card was unsuccessful and they refused to give me reasons. Note that, I don't think I am not qualified for the OCBC credit card, and they offered me to take loans from them before submitting my application. Also, I have other credit cards from other banks for years with good credit records.
I think OCBC is playing tricks to promote their other products (e.g., EasiCredit). It is hard for me to trust this bank again.
