Me and my wife were lied to by “Reggie” about the use of the Kata phone use in the Philippines. He told my wife that my in-laws didn’t need internet to use the phone. She asked me to talk to “Reggie” because it sounded to good to be true. So I asked him again if my in-laws needed internet to use the phone and he said “NO” need for internet to use the phone in the Philippines. Bottom line OWTEL LIEs, Sucks, and are a SCAM company.

Full of lies. Will get your credit card and make unauthorized charges. Customer Service is a sham. Stay away from this company. If they got your credit card, you should close it immediately. Run away as fast as you can from this people.

Owtel is a big scam. Agent will tell lies to get your business. Never give your credit card number. They will make charges that you don't authorize. If they already have your credit card, you should close it. Get you another card and never give it to them. If you hear any call from OWTEL RUN away!

The purchase ON MAY 2018 is for a cellphone to make incoming and outgoing calls to the Philippines.
The unit was sent but was returned to sender shipped via the US post office. I did not receive any notice from the post office or a tracking number from the company. Yet they continually charge another amount on 07/02/2018. I have called more than 5X and they come up with different excuses each time. From 1- unit has to be received back 2- it will take 7-15 days 2- it should take no longer than 3 business days 4 - system error ?????? !!!!!!!! 5- Manager not available just a supervisor - 6-Supervisor on another call ETC., ETC., ETC.,
.......
If a company can not issue a REFUND for $91.62 in a timely manner then I do not think the consumers should give them a business at all.

Owtel will sell you their Kata phones by not informing you the whole deal. Part of that is not sending you transaction receipt or invoice within a month so you won't have any clue on what transpired. You will only find out after a month that you have been duped when they start charging your card. Your option is to return the phone, but they will tell you that the one month return window is over. That's the time you will finally realize you have been SCAMMED!!! Be safe, don't give them your card number for any reason.

Beware giving your credit card information to Owtel they will make unauthorized transactions upon giving it to them. This company is a scam!

OWTEL Philippines is full of shit! Beware!!! This company operates like a scam! I could hardly understand an agent that called me today. I think he is a graduate from UP because he speaks really bad English. Despite my automatic monthly payment, they have charged me like $10 for freaking unsuccessful call attempts worth $3. I paid all my dues and requested to close my account today, but the agent hung up immediately as soon as my payment was successful. I tried calling back, but nobody answered. OWTEL Philippines is so desperate to collect every penny they could possible scam from their customers. Extremely pitiful!!!

This Owtel long distance keep me sending bill through my email when I am no longer used their service.I emailed the customer service and I sent the proof and checked no.for my last payment which is April of 2017,I also blocked the number I used to dial to make calls to Philippines, but they keep on sending bills

I have been using Kata phone since 2014. I have got very good experience in using it. They have a very well trained customer service. When I call them about my problem. Kata has responded with a repair program that applies to my devices that exhibit display flickering or Multi-Touch issues after being dropped multiple times on a hard surface and then incurring further stress on the device. I will recommend this to my friends who look for affordable and competitive smartphone.

This guy called me from Owtel to offer this so called "Kata" phone. He got upset when I refused to buy. Owtel should train well their people. They have no manners at all. This is bad business for Owtel. Client is always right and has freedom to refuse. You cannot force someone to purchase anything especially if it seems useless for their lifestyle.

Beware of this company. They are tricky and will lie to make a sale. They will lie about having a phone you can purchase through them to call the Philippines for free. Which is a lie, it's just a cell phone that once you buy it you have to buy a service and sim card to use it. They tricked my wife on buying one. Now when they call my wife. They hang up on me when I answer the phone because I know that they lie. When I call them they will never answer the phone. They will just hang up. Find a better company to make calls with.

I satisfied member and screwed with the bill that I have to pay in the next 6 months. Full of lies and promises and selling wrong info. After this bill paid I'm going to cancel my account. If any Owtel agent call you do me a favor just hang up save ur money and time.

My mother-in-law is already 88 years old and with her age, she could easily be conned into agreeing to things that she does not understand. She recently received two phones which she said she did not order. According to her, she vehemently declined the order and yet these shipments were made. On top of this, she gave out her credit card info on the phone to somebody who could have been a telemarketer.

She now is at the losing end because she would be shouldering the return shipment fee.

Also, phone agents are rude for hanging up on their clients. To name one, Lennie.

Do not even consider Owtel for your long distance calls to the Philippines! Believe me ... this is a scam!
Similar to the complaint earlier ... " Seriously! Ive been with owtel years now. At first the connection was great. I have no problem with the agents calling coz I can always ignore them. But lately...the quality of the connection is very frustrating! My siblings, mother and I could not understand each other. It is either they can't hear me or I can't hear them or the call will be cut off for some reason...its not very satisfying so now I am thinking of switching to another provider which I should have done a long time ago."
This company must have overbooked its capacity or must be using a very low bandwidth to save a lot of money . This causes a lot of disconnection during the calls, and every time it happens, you get billed more ... and more ... and more plus all the frustration. PLEASE NEVER EVER subscribe to this scam service!

Last April, 2013, I gave in to a sales representative from IStore owned by Owtel and bought a Kata T2 tablet which is quite expensive compared to a Kindle tablet. Then last November they again tried several times to call me to sell a newer Tablet but This time, I declined because here n the US, I can buy a much cheape, better tablet which has more storage capacity. Those sales representative will not stop calling and I have to cut ithem off over and over again. I am so sick of their sales strategy. Once they have your telephone number, beware, they will bug you to no end. I symphatize with the people trying to earn but I hate it when they don't stop bugging me even though its late at night when they call. Yes, their number will register UNKNOWN to your landline or cellphone so you don't know who is calling.

I used to subscribe with this freaking call company to be able for me to call my family in the Philippines. Last year, June 2009, I paid, settled and closed my account with them since they were charging me fees that has no bases.

Just this morning, a former friend of mind texted me that Owtel Customer Service called them looking for me because I have to settle my account with them. I called Owtel immediately and then they told me I don't have or they can't access my account anymore.

UNKNOWN is only OWTEL calls. dont give out you cards to the owtel CS, they are using your cards to other purposes. and owtel saves your CC info, even if you process online
