Return policy on website is not honored in store
Luckily I asked all the important questions before buying the Yamaha RX-A1070 A/V Receiver I was interested in. The website doesn't state that AVRs are not sold on a trial basis, only 50 inch and larger TVs and other non home theater items like appliances.
Yet when I spoke to the manager today at the Raritan, NJ location he very bluntly stated all sales are final and that if I don't like the receiver for any reason within the 30 day period, I can not return it. Only exchanges for defective items.
When I reminded him what the website said and also the return policy board on the wall behind his head, he said if I want the online policy, I should buy it online. But even his own policy board didn't say anything about AVR being a exception to the 30 day return policy.
The worst part of my experience was that the complete lack of manners and poor attitude made it seem like I was being cursed off and that I was the unreasonable one.
Of course, I won't be buying anything expensive from them ever, because if I spend $1.2K on an AVR I want to be fully satisfied and if it doesn't play nicely with my TV or sources with HDMI HDCP handshaking issues or the like, I want a hassle free return.
I also went to the East Brunswick, NJ yesterday and they said the same thing, albeit politely, probably because I spoke to a general employee, not the manager.
My stance on this matter is that either they need to update the written return policy in store and online OR they need to follow the current written one. Its misleading to write one thing and say the exact opposite. Rather deal with Best Buy or an online store like Crutchfield that actually believes in manners/positive attitude and following their published policies to the letter.
Even if I was okay with their claimed no return policy in store, I can't buy from a place that contradicts themselves and treats potential customers as pests.

He did not apologize for his staff
I just called the P C Richard and Son in Paramus NJ and was treated very rudely by the alleged manager,Joseph Botros Jr.. He was so rude that I suspected him of being on drugs. After complaining that his staff had told me three different stories about the availability of a waher/dryer combination, he responded, "Well, what do you want from us?" He did not apologize for his staff. My response to his question was that I wanted him to apologize for being so rude. It didn't happen. He hung up on me.
