No word on status of my sail.
I too have been trying to contact peaksails for months regarding a sail that I made the final payment on in September.
Last OCT I too was told that my sail was due for completion by the end of the week, and was being handed off to Fedex carrier.
At which point I'd receve a tracking number. I still haven't received this number, or a call back, or an email.
From email: Dated OCT 9.
"Thank you for your recent inquiry.
Our office and loft have been closed for the past week in able to perform our annual inventory.
Your new headsail has been completed and is scheduled to ship directly from the loft at the end of this week.
You will receive tracking information from us once it has been tendered to and accepted by Fedex.
Sincerely, Connie Parr"
I too have been very patient.
If it takes longer than expected that's fine, I just want a status and receive my headsail.

I understand that it's a busy time to get a new sail. I'd just like to know it's status. I'm very patient, I'd like to think, but it's a lot of money to just forget about. I hope to hear back from you soon.
thank you. -Andrew

Peak Sails North America
I ordered a Hunter 22 Genoa from Peak Sails of North America on February 6, 2017 and it arrived on April 5, 2017. I had heard of some recent complaints about this company, so 15 days after they received my final payment, I questioned the company about my order status and commented that the Florida sailing community would be watching this order process. This was a golden opportunity for the company to assuage any bad publicity and to show real customer service. Instead, the CFO of the company accused me of "extortion" by telling her that the sailing community was watching, and then had their corporate counsel contact me with insults and threats of reprisal. He even requested that I take my future business elsewhere! The fact that a question about the status of an order (that has been fully paid for) is met with a response like this is hard to believe. I guess this is what passes for great customer relations at Peak Sails. Even if the sail is of good quality, no one should have to experience this kind of treatment when ordering a sail. When Peak Sails responds to this review, as they have with past reviews, the corporate counsel will no doubt attempt to debunk this review by spewing some more vitriol. I am certainly heeding the corporate counsel's advice and taking any future business to the competition. If you don't want to subject yourself to this type of treatment, I'd suggest that you follow his advice as well.

Customer Service - No Product Received
I ordered a mainsail, generator and sail cover. On March 8, 2017 I was told the sails were ready and I paid the balance due. I was told that the shipping / import broker would contact me shortly to arrange duty payment. As of March 31, I have not heard from the shipper/broker. I have been trying to get a response from Summer for four days and Chris Stevens without success.

Customer Service - No product recieved
I've been trying to contact someone, anyone at Peak Sails for 4 days without a single reply. The sails I ordered are late and they have not provided me with any tracking information or even a lame excuse. At this point, I feel like I have been scammed out of my money. It looks like my only recourse is to contact the BBB and my credit card company, and post warnings in as many places as possible on the internet and social media to warn others.

To Our Prospective Clients
Dear Prospective Clients,
Peak Sails North America opened its doors during the first quarter of 2013 and has become the largest independent sailmaker in North America.
Please accept our sincere apologies for being subjected to what has been written and responded to on this review site.
As you can see, there are only three complaints against our company in the five years we have been in business. If you read our responses to these complaints, you hopefully will see that there are two sides to every story.
Any complaints you read prior to March of 2013 belong to a company that was based in Seattle that closed it doors in late 2012. We purchased their assets after their closing. You may verify this fact by checking with the Better Business in Seattle, WA.
Please do not hesitate to contact us at
[email protected]
with any questions.

Peak Sails Response To Dave Johnson
Dear Mr. Johnson,
I am extremely disappointed that you have chosen to lodge a public complaint on this site.
My disappointment stems from the fact that you have chosen to provide a false narrative of your purchase. One that can be easily proven by reviewing the stream of e-mails between you and Peak Sails.
Here are the facts:
1. You did not order a "maxi roach" mainsail. In fact, what you ordered was the exact opposite.
2. You were provided design drawings for the sail prior to production.
3. You advised that you took the sail to North Sails and they advised that it was not constructed properly. We contacted the management of the North loft and they advised that the sail was not inspected nor did they tell you it was not constructed properly.
4. You filed a false dispute with your credit card company and received the entire amount for the sail we built and delivered. Additionally, you have refused to return the sail to us.

Peak Response To "Bait & Switch"
Dear Mr. Bait & Switch,
We would not normally respond to a public complaint made by an individual who hides their identity.
However, it was not difficult for me to determine who the client was and what actually transpired with this order.
Peak Sails builds and sells a large number of sails for the Rhodes 19. In fact, the sails are constructed based on the measurements and specifications as outlined in the class rulebook.
You purchased a mainsail that had the exact measurements of a Rhodes 19 mainsail from our "Sails On Sale" page of our website. This page offers sails at a discounted price because an order was cancelled or final payment was not received.
When you received the sail, you called and advised that it was too big. We asked you to provide the measurements of the sail. They matched those of the Rhodes 19. We then asked you to measure the luff and foot measurements from the boat. You reported back with measurements that were much smaller on both the luff and foot.
After further investigation on your part, you advised that both the mast and boom had been replaced prior to purchasing the boat.
You accepted these facts and even ordered a custom jib at the time. Additionally, we offered to build a custom mainsail based on the measurements of your actual rig at cost.
Regards,
Timothy Devlin

Peak Sails Response To Peter Youngs
Dear Mr. Youngs,
I am sorry to hear that you are unhappy with with our sail and service.
I had an opportunity to review your account and can report the following:
Your complaint centered on the slugs that were installed along the luff of the mainsail. We explained that this hardware is manufactured by Bainbridge International and has been used by all sailmakers for decades.
We offer a 36 month warranty on every sail we build. It covers defects in both material and workmanship.
To make a warranty claim, a client simply needs to contact us with the details of the problem and provide a repair quote from a local loft. We may also request photographs of the damage as well.
Unfortunately, you had the sail repaired without any notice to us. The only photograph we received was of a broken slug and nothing more.
We are proud to offer one of the best warranties in the industry.
Regards,
Timothy Devlin

Poor Qulaity and Customer Service
Ordered a Triaxial Mainsail for a Mac26 - product arrived OK (but later than indciated) - on third use in lively conditions (20kts) when close hauled - the top sail lug failed and once that happened we then then lost the next three lugs before we could get the main down. Being located in Perth WA we took the sail to a sail maker in Perth - if did not cost a lot $150 to change all the lugs and I wrote to Peak to see what they thought of the issue. Basically they walked away from the issue and ended up being uterly rude and unprofessional in the exchanges - quite honestly the worst customer service experience in a long while. Reputation lost for me and lot of my sialing conatcts - never again.

Bait and Switch
Ordered a Rhodes 19 Mainsail Peak sent me a Precision 21 Mainsail. Chris Stevens said it was the same sail as a Rhodes and that I could make it fit by bending my mast. After following all their suggestions I told them I wanted to return the sail and my money refunded. Have not heard anything substantive back from them.
These guys change their Companies name. Peak Sails doesn't use, or display a real bricks and mortar address. Avoid them. They stole my many through Paypal.
Peak Sails Don't bully me, threaten me with legal action, lets go to Court if you dare.

Not what I asked for.
I ordered a maxi roach main for my tartan 33 from Chris Stevens at Peak Sails. Received a main with no roach at all. When I asked about this and sent him a picture he admitted that this was not the sail he approved for production from China. I was told that it was good enough and would just have to live with it as they don't do remakes. I even had it measured at a local loft, showed them his email and asked what they thought. There response was that it was mis made and should have been replaced, period. When confronting Peak again I was told that I was a wanna be sailor that didn't no what he was talking about. It's not worth hiring a lawyer for 750.balance. The sail just collects dust. Bought a new main with a maxi roach from Somerset sails for 1300, that's made in America. What goes around comes around I guess. Dave Johnson, LosAngeles Ca.

MOB Complaint
MOB-
It is very apparent to me you are nothing but a keyboard sailor and/or warrior.
For the record, nothing in his "review or "complaint" is based on fact. In fact, you have managed to commit multiple counts of defamation.
It always amazes me how individuals can attempt to libel a company and not even have the intestinal fortitude to use their real name. If you feel you are justified in your claims, please contact me to discuss in detail.
Consumers reading this should understand that anyone can post to this and other "Consumer Complaint" sites. Many of them, including this one does not even make an attempt to notify the company or verify postings. More importantly, the vast majority have pending and/or ongoing litigation against them for this exact situation.
If anyone is contemplating purchasing a new sail and is concerned by this information, you are most welcome to contact me by phone at Peak Sails North America.

Same owner, same problems
Peak Sails remains a company of Art Kelly. Being a broker they have no real assets or manufacturing. Hong Kong is where Wilfer Sails the manufacturer they use is located. They do all the design and engineering as well. See www.wilfersail.com . The sales office is in Tysons Corner, VA and is pretty much a one man show. Art Kelly and his wife, who had a previous business in sail brokerage go under with a BBB rating of "F" live in the Pacific NW or Canada, I couldn't get an exact location. The "Accounting" office in Denver is actually a garage where the sails arrive and are repacked for delivery. Considering the unbelievably bad reputation Peak Sails has as well as the lack of any material assets, A) Who would buy them? B) Why would anyone buy them? and C) Why wouldn't they change the name?. Anyone wishing to can contact Wilfer Sails and get even more savings. My purpose here is to reduce the pain and suffering of my fellow sailors, if you absolutly need to spend as little as possible but want new, go to Wilfer Sails or other Asian lofts. The alternative is used at many excellent establishments (Bacon Sails in Annapolis). I would, from personal experience, avoid Peak Sails at any cost.

Poor quality
Bought a furling jib and a mainsail cover from Peak Sails 1 year ago. The (claimed to be) SunBrella mainsail cover and leach/foot cover have faded to almost white in a year, leading me to believe that the fabric that was specified to be SunBrella is in fact a cheap substitute.

Peak Sails
Ordered a set of sails on 5/23/2012 and was told 3 to 4 weeks for delivery. They were busy so I allowed them more time for my order. Emails and phone calls, for the most part, went unanswered when they did answer, they lied about shipping dates. My CC company was able to reverse the charge and credit my account. do not do business with Peak Sails, they do not care about customer service.

Failure to delivery product
Peak Sails charged my credit card on June 25, 2012 for a sailboat mainsail cover. The confirmation did not specify a delivery date. Repeated attempts to reach them online, by telephone, and by FAX resulted in no response. Currently, the credit card company is involved in trying to elicit a response from Peak Sails. In checking with the Better Business Bureau for the Seattle area, it appears that Peak Sails has other complaints and has been given an "F" rating. Before placing an online order, it probably is wise to contact the Better Business Bureau for the area in which the seller operates.
