I took my girls to be groomed on a Friday simply because they needed a weekend appointment. Found out later this was to incur an additional cost. When checking in I was asked for any info. I reminded them, as this was not our first visit, that one of my girls snaps & will try to bite. No comment from Ashley. An hour later I was called again by Ashley, to come pick up my dog they would not groom her. I went to pick up my girls. They had bathed the other one only. I would not make 4 trips to tne store so I asked for both since I was called to come. They promptly made out a BILL for weekend rates, bath, anal glands, ear cleaning for $26.99. The only thing they did was a bath!!! Upon calling another store I found this out. There is no price for a bath only. In my opinion good customer service was not practiced by anyone in the grooming salon or store. I was given a hard time by all. Let me tell you good customer service here. First when they check in and reminded that a dog that may or may not bite. Tell the customer you cannot guarantee she will be groomed. Second call the customer to pick up animals when the one you are doing is done, Thereby avoiding any unnecessary trips. Third if you have aa unhappy customer either adjust bill for ONLY services you have provided, or if you would like to keep this customer coming back and or referring your service squash the bill entirely and apologize for miscommunication. Petsmart #1968 Owensboro Ky will never get my business or any positive comments again. As I believed this to be an isolated event limited to this store I called the customer service line 888-839-9638 filed a complaint from the parking lot of the store. This is a week + later and I have not heard from Petsmart. I guess they have an abudance of customers and dont need more. Goodbye PetSmart! !!!

I understand your unease at the grooming tethers on the table. It's never used to hang a dog. LOL...those are used to keep the dog from jumping on the table and away from the edges of the table.If your dog is customized to a leash, it's used as one to keep them in one spot. Ours is a break away tether. So if they got skittish and tried to leap anyway, the tethers are designed to breakaway to prevent injury to the neck, but because it's a tether, it buys us prescious seconds to catch your baby before they fall. I've worked for Petsmart before. They are not issued these and that was always a big prob for me. There was an incident where a dog had died by hanging itself at a petsmart store. I blame the types of tethers they use but most of all I blame the groomer for stepping away from the table and not paying attention to the pet. YES!!! by all means...STAY!!!! Don't let your dog see you because it causes unnecessary stress on your dog because they try and get to you. They don't feel better bout the situation by seeing you thru the window. But watch at a safe distance. Any good groomer that enjoys what they do and has great confidence in their skill, won't mind that you stay. But if you start getting ugly looks from that groomer or the others in the salon...they are talking about you and I would'nt trust anyone who smiles at you to your face and talks stuff about you on the other side of the glass.

I took my 5 lb Yorkiepoo, Tyke to the Petsmart groomer. About an hour later I got a phone call saying that Tyke was taken to the Vet inside the store. The manager explained that he was "knicked" with the clippers behind the ear. We rushed to the store where they wouldn't let us see Tyke. We waited for awhile until the manger came out n explained that Tyke was cut on the back of the neck... A little while later the doctor came out and explained that Tyke had a cut on the back of his neck larger than a quarter!!! They had to put him to sleep and shove a tube down his throat and attempt to stitch a circle closed. Now were waiting. And wondering how do you cut a hole the size of a quater with a gaurd on clippers?! Do NOT use PETSMART groomers!!!

Awww. Poor dog. I hope he's healed up alright. My mom and I took our mini aussies to petsmart to have them shaved, once, and they came out fine. The only thing that bugged me were the stands with the ropes. Dogs can easily hang themselves with those things. All they have to do is step off the edge when the groomer is not looking or get freaked out and try to run off. Perhaps your dog spooked and turned his head when the groomer went to groom his ears. Some dogs can be jumpy, especially if there's a stranger holding something noisy and/or sharp near them. Next time, pleas stay and watch the groomer. You will not only see how the groomer does their job, but you will also make your dog feel more secure. That's what my mom and I did, especially since the littlest aussie was skittish and the larger aussie was getting shaved for the first time.
