Fees that should not have been charged
I understand if I overdraw my account and PNC chooses to pay the items that I should be charged but this is not always the case here. Prior to this October PNC would not let charges go through on my account if the funds were not available. I would receive Emails, for instance Microsoft subscriptions, that would let me know they could not charge my card. I have a some automatic withdrawls that come out each month that have been that way for at least 4 years now. PNC is now letting these charges come through and they are charging me overdraft fees. I went into PNC bank last week (today is 11-26-17) and a very nice woman (PNC is located in Limerick PA and on Ridge Road) she explained that PNC will always withdraw the highest amount first and does not actually matter when the charge was made. This means that I can make purchases and if I accidently make a larger purchase or I am waiting on a deposit to clear they will take the larger deposit first and then the smaller purchases from days before would be processed and I would be charged for each. There was a check that was written and although I wrote it, it should not have cleared my account because it was already in the negative. Unfortunately for me I made a few errors but was also waiting on a direct deposit to clear in the account. The wonderful woman tried to help give me back the $36 dollars and the $7 dollar a day fee if the account was not correct to at least a zero balance or more. She was not able to because somehow there was something on my account from corporate or wherever that did not allow her to do so. I am absolutely fed up. I check my balance a few times a day everyday and I look at pending, posted and available balance. I even took a picture of what my available balance was on my phone and also took pictures of all the information. So basically I had proof but it wasn't enough and the woman genuinely felt bad for me. I appreciated her honesty but basically from what I understand and I may have this wrong in some areas this is absolutely illegal and wrong but yet I am being told no one can help me. I am very angry and fed up. My husband and I have been customers for a long time and we nor anyone else should be treated this way or lose money because PNC is using illegal and predatory practices. I just need help and want my money returned. Also they have a program that does this but my husband and I never opted into it. We never agreed to it.

Unfair Charges
On March 8, 2012 I had enough money in my account to cover all charges made through March 12th. On March 9th, PNC charged me $72.00 in overdraft charges for 2 transactions that posted that day, because of 5 pending transactions made that evening, then changed the date of the first 2 charges to March 12th. After those overdraft charges (which shouldn't have been charged) and posted withdrawals my account was still positive $100.63. Then the rest of the charges on my account posted which should have all been covered except for 1. They charged me 4 more overdraft charges, even though they had already withdrawn those amounts from my available balance when they were pending. I understand that I am responsible for 1 of the charges because I made a mistake when I deposited money and was short $8.87. All of the other items should have been paid without charges and a supervisor cannot explain to me why they weren't. This is not the first time this has happened and the only explanation the supervisor gave when I stated this was bad business practice and fraud was that this "was disclosed". My account should be overdrawn $8.87 plus 1 overdraft charge of $36, but because of the scam practices, it is overdrawn $224.87. When asked to close the account, they stated that they cannot close the account because of a negative balance and the account will be charged an addition $98 ($7/day for 14 days) continuous overdraft charges.

Unfair Charges
We're in the electronic age -- kiting no longer works. You have to assume there's no such thing as "pending." That makes it very simple: don't spend money that's not already in your account. No overdrafts = no overdraft fees. Common sense.

excessive charges
PNC will kick the hell out of you when you are down.
I am at fault for not realizing i had overdrawn with my ATM purchases which were $10 here $25 there ($200 over 5 days), BUT a NSF penalty of $36 for each one!
plus $6 per day until it is cleared up. i went in to talk about the $400 in penalties and they said "nothing we can do...". too bad...
I get monthly statements emailed (online banking)
I found out myself there is an 'overdraft warning' email set to OFF by default.
thanks for not telling me @#$%%$#

excessive charges
PNC Charged me illegal fees and I just filed a complaint twith the Office of the Comptroller. They had the gall to charge overdraft fees when the account was NEVER overdrawn. They said that only part of my deposit is available the same day. When a bunch of bills came due on that same day of my deposit, they charged me 4 - $36.00 fees. They are insane if they think anyone is going to stand for that.
