new tv 6 months old does not work now,

Received the tv as a gift. the tv shows a rainbow of colors and no picture or sound. I am a senior and would care to know what can be done to repair this tv of only 6 months old. There are no extra funds for me to get such a new item fix. what are your suggestions. I can be reached at 1 718 981 4870.
