merchandise not acceptable

I ordered a set of glass bowls with airtight covers SKU#000G6H which were labled as Smart Home Essentials for Living 20 piece glass bowl set. The covers could not be removed unless you practically hold the bowl upside down and then when you get the cover off...the contents spill all over the place. I need to know how to remove the covers easily so that I don't break a finger nail, nor spill the content.
