Hero pay

I have been at publix for a year and a half. I like the company and what I do. The benefits are alright, no so grest for part-time. When this virus hit i eas scared, like everone. I didn't think about getting hazzard/hero pay. Then you heard how all these companies were doing for their employees. Since alot of businesses were closed who thought you would get compensated by your employee. Walmart gave fulltime 300.00 and part time 150.00, i think. Kroger's gave a bonus plus 2.00 extra hero pay which now the company is taking away and going to give the employees a one time bonus. Employees and their union are upset. Especially since the ceo got a 21% increase in compensation. I guess they don't appreciate their employees that much. Publix did a little something for their employees. Gave them 2 50.00 publix gift cards and an extra 100.dollars in their pay. Associates got ,depending on your last review a person could get a extra .25 to .50 increase in your pay rate. This means if your review is coming up , you will not get your review till the fall so you wont get more money. That all we got. Im sure the store manager and assistant manager, department heads and executive directors inthe company got real bonuses up in the 1.000's. The company said they appreciate us, RIGHT. I know home depot gave their employees extra 100.00 dollars a week plus double time for fulltime and part-time. They even gave them extra personal/sick time, 80 hours. Not sure about other retail.

aprons

Has anyone worked in Aprons? The new cleaning policy is bullshit, wipe the dishes with a cloth and then with a sanicloth.
Standing in one place for 4hours at a time is really tough on everyones back, feet and legs. They also have to stop doing the stupid reipes they have been doing, no one in a hurry with kids wants to make something that takes 45 or more minutes and no one wants to buy 12 ingerdients for dinner. They need to get thier heads out of their asses and get back to basics and wash the dishes properly!

Scheduling

Recently, I have not been getting put on the schedule. I read the handbook and it’s says ‘part timers are not guaranteed any hours’. I understand that, but my concern is that they are doing it out of spite. They are using the rule to their advantage. My manager is taking it personal because I won’t sleep with him. I don’t feel comfortable telling the store manager because he defends the other managers. And unfortunately, I always seems to be the bad one in the situation. What should I do?

Tracey Morgan

Good afternoon, This complaint is about the Deli Manager Tracey Morgan.Tracey keeps us pass our schedule shifts than on Friday we're required to take it off which is not fair to the employee's.So many employees went to the store manager Casey Wooden-Smith and nothing getting down about the things that goes on at store 1231 it seems like nobody cares anymore. When Mr.Scott comes in all the Managers act like everything is fine when it's not.Tracey Morgan sets around and talk about her employees with other employees which is acceptable as a Manager something needs to be done about this situation before everyone transfer from this store as soon as possible!!!

Publix 1341

Publix at Boot Ranch
Store 1341
500 East Lake Rd S, Palm Harbor FL 34685
727-784-4180

My current ASSISTANT manager, Emilee Hooper (ACSM), is possibly the worst ACSM I have ever encountered. She gloats around the store as though she knows all there is to know in all the land. Emilee has her favorites and you will definitely know who they are, you know the ones that act as though their performance is superior, position is secure, and confidence as low as a chihuahua is to the ground. My issue is that She belittles and undermines the performance of other associates in order to build up the confidence of her favorite associates. I truly believe that she is not concerned about the growth of any other individuals, which is as I have learned not the purpose of a manager or anyone on the management team. The purpose of management is to manage and promote the growth of their department and success of their associates; A successful manager is one that effectively coaches and mentors their associates because their most important role and purpose as a manager is to serve their associates so that they can better serve the customers in Publix's effort to provide premier customer service. As I think about what is best for our customers, business, and associates, I believe that Emilee Hooper should not be an ACSM because she does not exemplify the characteristics, charisma, compassion and dignity of a manager that Publix would want.

Treatment of Employees

I've been working at this company not even a year & the pay is the ONLY reason I'm there. The dept I work is too much for a woman. The managers I have are great, the Assistant Manager for Customer Service is a B****! The Store Manager is nice nasty! Why keep in in the dept I'm in if it's physically a problem for me? Shopping is a pleasure, but working here is the ABSOLUTE WORST. I'll be seeking employment ASAP!!

Callout

So I worked at the publix deli for about a year now. About two months ago we got a new attendance policy where every time you are late or callout you are decated a point from your evaluation. So I had to call out three times in the past two months. The first time I sprained my ankle and got a doctor's note and they simply said "doesn't count because I would technically work on aprons or up front sitting down". Second time I had to leave early because I was throwing up and had a 24 hour bug and was told and signed a paper saying since I work in deli to not work while having this bug as it is contagious. The third time was yesterday where I called out because my boyfriend couldn't give me a ride and I had no other way to go in because his leg buckled up and he couldn't move it so he couldn't drive. So I told them it was a family emergency and they said it didn't count because he's not family. What makes matters worse is that my boss will leave 2 or 3 hours early everyday to spend more time with her son and not clock out because she is paid salary. And before the new policy a guy would call out or no call no show everyday and he worked there for two years before getting fired and they threaten to fire me over me calling out three times.

Treatment of Employees

I just recently started working for Publix & I've always heard how this is a great company to work for. Right.. I'm the type of woman that works my ass off & don't ride the clock for hours just because I'm cute. These managers need to mindful of how they speak to their employees, if not, I have NO problem telling ppl that "shopping is a pleasure", but working with these ignorant & nasty managers will put you in a position to keep a notebook of everything that goes on to cover yourself.

Deli Manager(Tracey Morgan)

Tracey only been at Store #1231 about 2 months now.Tracey doesn't know how to talk to her employees. When there's an issue instead of Tracey pulling the employee to the side to have a conversation with them Tracey says it in front of the employees and customers that's very inappropriate.Since the store been opened Tracey is the first Manager that has been rude to our department. All the employees been with the company since opening day. We're afraid that people will quit or transfer to another store.I hope and pray that Corporate will be able to solve this issue immediately.

Innapropriate manager

I was working at a publix in FL and my first few months there, an Assistant Stock Manager was making extremely inapropriate advances toward me. I was 17 and he did it to all of the young new girls there. After a while I got sick of the comments about my hair and how beautiful I looked that day. I tried to tell him to stop and then he sent me a friend request on facebook. I asked him about it and he said "I couldn't help myself". Everyone(including the store manager) knew how he was and told me it was "nothing to worry about". I asked him about his girlfriend that I saw on his facebook page and he told me she didn't need to know that he had a crush on me. Eventually he was moved from my store thankfully. I know things like that are circumstantial but it had been going on for so many years and to think he's now a stock manager is insane to me.

lack of seriousness and professionalism of their managers especially ( Katharina )

Publix Super Market at Coral Ridge
11600 W Sample Rd
(954) 509-5288

Yesterday, I get a really bad experience buying in Publix, when I took a cake which price on the display it was showing $4.49, but when I pay it was a different price of course always higher $7, 29, then I told the cashier the price must be wrong, because the price showing on the display was $4.49, so he verified I was right, then another cashier affirmed my statement, in less than a second a manger name Katharina came and very rudely told me “ I could not give you the cake at that price” when I was explaining about the price was on the display and asking her to remove the wrong price in order to avoid confusion and misunderstandings, she just turned and ignore me to later go.
This is a really bad practice placing low prices on the product which resulting on lies plus the lack of seriousness and professionalism of their managers especially ( Katharina )

Publix Violations

Publix continues to fail its employees and customers in numerous ways. Recently, a Publix manager required a juvenile employee to remain past their authorized working hours, violating law and Publix policy. After that, a different Publix manger did not verify that a separate juvenile employee was provided an adequate break from work.

These are just two recent, but severe violations by Publix which only proves there are severe defiencies and lack of attentive leadership.

Is Publix Next? (Amended Grammar)

When hired by Publix, there is or used to be an employee orientation. In this, we are told the history of Publix and its founder, Mr. George Jenkins. We are told how Publix will treat us like family and how they are different from other corporations. No doubt, Publix is financially successful, is expanding with new locations and pays cash for them.

The issue is this....Product vs. People. Somewhere in the last few years, Publix has lost its way and has turned its back on what our Founder established. This is disappointing and unacceptable. Any time a company is more interested in the product on its shelf rather then the employees well-being and happiness, the company fails. The most important position in a store like Publix should be the associate stocking the shelves and/or any associate in consistent, daily contact with that product and their customers. Associates control everything from damage and theft to customer interaction and so much ore. This is the basis for and most important functions of any business. Is Publix Next?...is it the next dirty, poorly managed corporation with discouraged, angry, disgruntled employees? Is it the next location for someone to carry out an act of workplace violence as seen in history and most recently? Let's hope the answer is a profound, NO!

After conversing with numerous associates from multiple stores, the experiences are all too similar and all too real. Loyal, dependable associates being passed up by younger, less-experienced new hires, managers making poor decisions, deceitfulness, employee resignations and the like. I have taken it upon myself to not fight against the corporation...but fight FOR the corporation, the real corporation...the one Mr. Jenkins founded, not the one poor managers have created. With that said, I have used the chain-of-command and presented the concerns of myself and the majority voice of fellow associates. I have met with and spoke with everyone from Team Leader to District Manager, Human Resources and Regional Manager which is above a District Manager. In every case, I have been met with disappointment and no resolution. Please be confident I am fighting for you, the faithful, good-intention associate and Publix as a whole. Whatever has occurred is not just wrong, it is unjust!

I am acting as the ambassador, the Employee Advocate that too many are either afraid to do or do not know how to do. Please know there is someone on your side looking to present this to the person at Publix who TRULY cares about Publix, the associates and customers...not just the stock value or their 401k or income. I will fight until there is resolution and change back in the direction it was designed it go...People before Product! Stay together, Speak up!

Customers on EBT treatment

I was in line behind a young family that looked like they were celebrating something important. I looked up after a while and the cashier Leah, that is the name on my receipt - had left the register. After listening to the conversation - seems like Publix does not steam any sea-food for people on food-stamps!!! They had to wait while Leah took their crab legs of ($70 something) back as they had been steamed and people on food stamps or EBT can only purchase FROZEN crab legs. I suggest that Publix does not make customers wait in line while the family waits for frozen crab legs to be brought back. The better idea is to post a large sign at the seafood counter that reads PUBLIX DOES NOT STEAM ANY SEAFOOD FOR EBT CUSTOMERS. Publix has lost my $150.00 - $300.00 a week business. It is no longer a PLEASURE shopping here. Your staff is rude - and they don't care to show it. Example - some manager came out and yelled register 2 is open - well the customers behind me took off. Only caring place I've noticed at Publix now (when you first opened in Lovejoy it was a wonderful store and employees) is the Pharmacy. I have asked for a few name brand foods to be in this Publix, for nearly two years now, and this store still does not carry items asked for. Tonight I only ran in for the BOGOs on cookies for my class, tired and disgusted that I had to wait in the ten items or less lane for more than 15 minutes! I wonder who will get the wonderful crab legs for free tonight???.
Very disappointed customer.

Unfair treatment

I worked in the deli for over 3 years and when I originally started out I was told that the company would work around my college schedule. They lied. Because I had to live on my own in order to go to school (the bus to Shelton stopped right behind my apartment) I had rent and bills to pay. Well, I was scheduled one day one week, but I happened to catch strep during that week. I called my manager a day beforehand to make it known I would not be able to work for a couple of days until I was better. I was then taken off of the schedule for an entire month. Needless to say I had to drop out of my classes because I didn't have the extra money, and I had to move back in with family.
After dropping out of my classes I informed management that I wanted full time, and I worked my ass off for it. I would be left in my department alone while other workers disappeared to other departments for twenty minutes or more, or they would be sitting in the back office with the manager or assistant manager having non-work related conversations (I know this for a fact). Then the smokers would take ten minute smoke breaks, but those of us that did not smoke were required to stay in the department the whole time.
I would end up staying past my scheduled time to leave, while the full timers would leave early, to do extra work that should have been shared among all the coworkers.
Well, before I know it I had been there for two and a half years and two full time workers had quit, so again I reminded the management that I wanted full time. It was given to two people ahead of me, which was fair, but then another full time worker quit, and instead of giving me full time they brought in a transfer. Then another full time worker quit, (there is a pattern here...no one wants to work for this company) and I went to management. I was told that the full time position could not be promised to anyone, then I find out that it had been given to a worker that had only been there for three months (and only because this person and management know each other outside work).

My view on Publix, in a nutshell:

no employee discounts, favoritism, no hours for part timers, no benefits for part timers, if you don't kiss butt you remain a part timer with no hope or prayer for full time, you are stomped on as a part timer and are expected to work twice as hard as a full timer, if you do not do extra work then you are "not doing your job" while full timers can stand around and talk.

I would never work for Publix again, and if the company keeps operating the way it does, the workers will eventually rebel and the company will fold.

HA HA HA!

After 15 years of part time, full time, assisstant and department management, this site has got to be the greatest thing I've ever seen. You guys really made me laugh. Wah, they didn't do something they aren't obligated to do. Wah, my manager didn't grant my REQUEST for a day off when they are trying to RUN A BUSINESS! Wah, I demand instant satisfactionat a company that rewards it long term associates. Wah, my manager held me to the high standards that Publix has and that I was informed of during orientation. Maybe you should step back and notice that the customers that are polite and respectful get taken care of in kind. Special lights to enhance the color of the meat??? HAHAHA!!! You're joking, right? The lights are the same lights used in every other grocery store. Perhaps the tempature of the meat case is where it is SUPPOSED to be and your fridge is nowhere near that? Or maybe your 2 hour shopping trip caused your meat to get warm because you picked it up first. Union? Hey, lets have these people represent us and get us $20 an hour but on the backside pay them half of that in dues. Good luck. All of you bitter people are the minority when it comes to people who work and shop at Publix. But don't worry, Mr. Jenkins established his company with the purpose of keeping his customers happy, even if it means refunding an $80 cake after you eat all but 2 slices because "it was stale" or because you've "been shopping here for 12 years" when its only been open 5. Take a step back and evaluate your life and consider moving out of the south.

Check Cashing

So the last three times i went into Publix to cash My Payroll checks i have had hostile words with employees/ management ect. Thee last time i ended up not being able to have my check cashed at all, One of my last checks was around 450$ so i stood in a long line for 15 min. Just for the employee behind the counter to inform me that their store limit was 350$ and would not be able to cash my check. So I Informed her That YOU HAVE A SIGN POSTED THAT SAYS YOU CASH PAYROLL CHECKS UP TO 500$ FOR A 4$ CHARGE, She argued that the sign is generic and there was nothing she could do, then she told me to step aside so she could tend to another costumer, so i asked to see the manager who told me the same Nonsense that the employee did, so i said either they were gonna cash my check or i wanted the corporate number, So the cashed it for me, But The last time I went in they did the SAME thing and DID NOT cash my check, I want to know if I am wrong For expecting them to follow through On a 500$ check cashing limit when the sign CLEARLY states that?

What does the little asterisk on the sign say? When they say UP TO there is a disclaimer that has more info. By the way, Publix is a private business and they are not required to cash your check at all. They can refuse you service for any reason. Next time, get a bank account.
