Booked a room after reading reviews at tripadvisor, expedia, and others. There were many good reports of 3 and above. The room turned out to be a small top floor room in a run down hotel. Discovered after booking that $250 security fee would be held against any damage I could incur. The room was in such bad shape I doubt if any damage would be noticeable, could not stay the night although booked for 4. Prepaid $450.00 for which I am requesting refund. It was discovered only after opening the door to the room that the hotel is not air conditioned. The heat build up in that room from two glaring bare bulbs for lighting, the TV and heat rising from floors below was unbearable. The windows open wide did not make a difference, the two screened windows had screens so caked with dirt, lint and dust did not allow for any air to penetrate. I had to prop open the door lying naked in bed in view of passing guests. They would not furnish a small table lamp or a small fan, without sleep checked out at 7 in the morning. The wide open windows are a clear violation of San Francisco code, multi story hotels are required to have them sealed shut or able to open only 4". ALL TRAVELERS BEWARE, RELYING ON REVIEWS FROM PURPORTEDLY RELIABLE UNBIASED SOURCES CAN RESULT IN COSTLY, DISAPPOINTING AND RUINED VACATIONS. PURPETRATORS SHOULD BE MADE ACCOUNTABLE.

#1. apparently any good reviews are bogus, #2. the $250 fee should be part of the booking process not after #3. That fact that the hotel is not air conditioned should be part of the booking process not after #5 the hotel needs to be inspected for violations of health and safety codes.

Proof of the length of time I was at the hotel is verified by the attachment for the $250 charge and subsequent credit when leaving the next morning.
