Deception
I was referred to reconstructive hand surgeons for a work related medical condition. After conservative treatment was unsuccessful.surgery was discussed. I was hesitant to have surgery due to horror stories, I heard regarding treatment of work comp patients(they don't want to pay)--they are not treated like a bill paying patient, but rather as second class citizens. I discussed this fear with the doctor and I was assured that I would be treated with respect. His office completed FMLA paperwork. Both my employer and work comp approved 4 weeks off. Unfortunately, the doctors office manager, Tracy , decided it was in the best interest for the work comp company for me to return to work in 4 days. I got a break when my employer could not accommodate that I could only use one hand. It is amazing to me that an office manager has the medical knowledge to override a doctor
