Account was closed after new application
I would like to describe how my Safelink account was handled on August 19, 2018
August 19, 2018, my Safelink account was active but then deactivated when I called 1-800-Safelink (723-3546). A new application was taken by representative Conrado due to my Virginia address. I previously lived in Maryland. I notified Safelink a year ago about my address change and thought everything was up to date. Subsequently, the application about me which was processed by Conrado failed and according to Conrado, that failure had nothing to do with me and he (Conrado) wanted to redo the application process but I told him I will visit the website to enter the data myself. The processed failed again. I called Safelink help desk and conversed with Randal who was unable to assist and transferred me back to an account representative. I was transferred to Maricar who told me after I described in detail and provided her (Maricar) additional details about my Safelink service and was told by Maricar I was found ineligible. I know that I should not be ineligible for the Safelink service. I told Maricar again about the processes prior to my conversation with her that an application was processed by Conrado but Maricar provided me no further assistance. I requested a supervisor. Mr. Ernesto (supv) conversed with me about my Safelink account and was the first representative who told me my Safelink account was canceled 8/19/18 by Conrado and furthermore, due to my location change from Maryland and now living in Virginia I would need to reprocess a new Safelink application after 48 hours. This should have been told to me beginning with Conrado after his failed attempt to have a new application process (Maryland vs. Virginia). I additionally told Mr. Ernesto that I contacted Safelink over a year ago and mentioned I lived in Virginia and no information was provided to me by them (Safelink). Mr. Ernesto told me that it is my responsibility to update my relocation change to Safelink. When I mentioned to Mr. Ernesto that I will communicate this debacle to the Better Business Bureau and Consumer Affairs, Mr. Ernesto transferred me to Mr. Alcides (mgr) and I had the unfortunate experience again to have conveyed to me the same information told to me all over again. Safelink needs to take responsibility for how accounts are handled.
I am a senior citizen (62) and now without a phone and will be without a cell phone for more than 48 hours.

doesn't function
I received my tracfone from Safelink last week and it is unusable. People don't get the texts I send them. There are no service bars, even outside my home, even though it is in a major metro area. Phone calls drop and when people try to call me, only 1 has been able to leave an actual voicemail. the rest say that it rings and then stops. I should be able to be out of a coverage area all together and still have voicemail. The volume on the phone is so low, i have to put it on speaker and max volume and hold it up to my ear (i don't have hearing problems). I can't even call customer service, b/c the call keeps dropping! Worse than worthless, b/c you think you have a phone at least for emergencies and then it doesn't work when you need it. Piece of crap phone. Useless service. Anything would be better.
