refusal of service
My wife submitted a prescription refile by phone in October. The refill request was not faxed to the doctor. She was denied service and a refill in early November at the shoppers at 123 Mitton street south in sarnia. And told to contact her doctor. The pharmacist did not come to the prescription pick up area to speak to her directly. In fact spoke with a raised voice from the other end of the counter. Appeared to be over worked and short tempered due to high customer volume due to flu shoots. The medication my wife is taking can not be discontinued abruptly. As to do so could cause a raise in blood pressure. The pharmacy could have called two weeks prior if they felt a doctors appointment were necessary before a refill was issued for this medication. However this was not done and an appointment not necessary to renew. As this was a regular and ongoing prescription need. But instead she was told by the front store manager she could not have a refill without seeing a doctor. When it was question why a prescription refill service was offered if this was the case. She was told that service was only available for certain medication such as inhailers. They were government regulated. I would think a medication that could send blood pressure through the roof if stopped abruptly should be included here. Had to go to emergency to have this issue addressed over the weekend due to being refused service. seems this was not handled in a professional or ethical way. After many yes of being a loyal customer. Better customer service would have been appreciated here. Instead my wifes health was overlooked and she was treated poorly. This just is not right.
