RE: Sequel - Believe Silestone defective installation 11/11/16. Beside uploading pics of the damaged countertop, wanted to update you on a few items of interest. My wife located the Silestone folder and low and behold, was an official EXPO document titled, Installation Warranty. In it states: "The EXPO Design Center warrants the workmanship of the installation for as long as you own your home. Should any defects due to faulty workmanship become apparent, EXPO Design Center will correct the problem free of charge." Home Depot told us cracks are not warrantied. A field manager recommended by Home Depot inspected the crack and said it would not be covered by the warranty (This early on when the crack was about 3 inches long. They all insinuated that we must have put a hot pot on the countertop. Similar pictures of horizontal cracks/crevices such as ours are posted on the internet. I wonder if this is a systemic problem? Hopefully I will be able to upload the photos now. One of the photos shows the horizontal cracks. The crack began in the area of the white spoon, and slowly expanded horizontally. One of the photos shows a cross cut with a shiny silver rod in almost the middle of the piece. You can see the huge amount of rust that grew in between the sink lip and the back of the counter.
