unauthorized charge

I don't know how these people got my checking account information, but somehow they did and they ran a charge through for $5.85 . I know it's not a lot. but I didn't authorize it and it forced me to cancel my debit card so they could not run more bogus charges through and empty out my checking account. This is causing me major inconvenience, problems, and worries. I'm disabled and on a fixed income and this is the last thing I needed today to be the frosting on a crappy cake. I am so angry and frustrated. Furthermore, it seems the burden of proof is on me to prove somehow that I didn't authorize the charge. I don't understand why people who use debit cards don't have the same protection as people who use credit cards. I don't know if I'll ever get that $5.85 back or not, but at least I caught them in time to keep them from getting more. I curse them with all the power of my mind! DIE! DIE ! DIE!
