The purpose of this compliant is to advocate for former and present employees at Subway in Hope Mills, North Carolina. On April 1, 2018. The Subway owner called me over the business phone and inquired about the sales from the previous night. I gave him the information and he began to yell and curse at me over the business phone. I told him we didn’t have the supplies and I had contacted the managers to inform them concerning this situation. However, I was not a manger and did the best I could under the circumstances.
He called me names and continued to curse at me for the sales amount. I began to get weak and dizzy. He said you are going to make me have a bad day. He hung up the phone and called me back and told me I was fired. Subsequently, I hadn’t received any negative previous performance evaluations or complaints for his actions to be justified. In three minutes he called me back and said turn in your key. I was extremely upset and feared that he was coming to the store. I called the Hope Mills Police to report this matter. The police officer stated, he is well known for his harsh behaviors towards women. The police officer provided information to coach me and another employee on how to handle this situation.
I have been working for this company since November 2017. The second week, I was given a key without a management title or pay increases. I had to open and closed the store without getting paid before and after hours to prep the food. After leaving the hospital, I requested for my termination papers. He refused to give me the papers. I really don’t know this man’s identity. He goes by Mike, Mahammad, and other names. The payroll check has Bilal & Aaya Subway, Inc. He owns Subways in Hope Mills, Fayetteville ( Bingham and Waldos Beach), Lumberton and Raleigh.
Employees are given a schedule and do not get compensated after their designated time on the schedule. Many employees must work additional hours to meet requirements without being compensated. He openly admitted he had someone working at the Labor Board that would protect him if we filed some complaints. Most employees lost due to not being able to show a time stamp of their hours.
In final, please assist me in finding out if he a legal citizen and his identity. I need to send him paper work and it is vital to know his name.
Respectfully,
Damerra Dallas
