I left my job in March of 2011 and terminated my insurance with Sun Life. I discovered a year later that they were still taking money from my account each month. I called to inquire, spoke to at least 6 different people, they couldn't find me on file (yeah, it's been terminated idiots!), and ultimately asked me to write a letter explaining the problem. I was so frustrated, I remember crying while I wrote my letter. I mailed it and hoped. They never contacted me. Ever.
I gave up. That's what I do. I finally called again in February 2017. I spoke to 10 (?) different reps, explained my story over and over, and at last found a woman that listened and agreed that I no longer have an ongoing policy on file and a mistake had been made. Yes! She would call me back. Guess what?!?! She didn't get back to me.
So, they've been taking my money for 78 months - yep, $6000. I've been calling this chick three times a week since the end of August and leaving annoyingly polite messages. She has never gotten back to me. I actually got her in person (wow) last week and had to refresh her on my story. She said she'd call back Thursday or Friday afternoon. You guessed it - she hasn't called back. I finally hit my limit today, went to the bank, had them a file a "stop payment", and was advised that I should get a lawyer. I'm doing that tomorrow. I'd rather give my money to a lawyer that earns it than continue to be raped by Sun Life. Seriously, how hard can it be to stop stealing my money?
