Rude and made me feel threatened!

First I have purchased Advantage cleaner several time in the last 12-15 years! So last week at 7:30 in the evening, I had a salesman come to my home who was extremely rude and got very angry when he learned I still had cleaner from my last purchase and that I used another cleaner. He began to yell at me about how this cleaner was the best in America and showed me all the different ways as to why it is the best. Personally I like my other cleaner better, my opinion and my right! He then proceeded to throw all his rags in his book bag and turned around saying how he was done with me! Yelling all the way down my driveway! I then called the Advantage number on my bottles, and got their answering service(as their offices were closed at that hour, yet their salesman knocked on my door at that rude hour!) I put in my complaint and left my number. Two days later I called again as I never heard back! I left another message! And now 4 days later no call has been made to me!!!! So I will NEVER purchase this product again and thanks to their selected salesman I now will never open my door to somebody I do not know! He made me feel less safe in my own home!

Jungle bunny robbed my home

Had 2 black chicks come to my house and ask me if I wanted to buy a bottle for $20 I said no she went to my work van and tried on my door. Told her no again then the other Swahili girl got pissed and said we'll give us some money so we don't have to go on welfare Like it was my duty and job to give her money I don't know why I did but I gave them 5 each They took it and got so pissed They said that's it your cheap yo. Of course I called her a nigger on the way out because that's exactly what they were ! Later that night my van was broken into with all my tools 15 k worth of tools and trashed my new car that I worked so hard for. This could have easily crippled my family if I was some piece of shit that didn't work it would have forced me to lose my house Luckily I was raised right ( not like a nigger ) and put some money away instead of buying every pair of Jordan's , go to club every night and buy coynteless bottles of crystal , and buy things I can't afford Plus I have 2 kids not 7 to support
So when u hear about why are people racist I do not want to hear they are all bad . I grew up near these mongrols and they destroyed my school my neighborhood , the city's budget and on and on It is only going to get worse with liberals giving them excuses why they can't get on there feet and resort to crime. I started out with 0. My family started with zero off the boat we grinded and did what we had to do the honest way , without being reliant on government funds which we needed some times , just don't want my kids dealing with there bullshit No country can thrive with them in it tremendous burden on society and $$$$$$

Terrible salesmen, not so great products

Salesmen selling these products comb through our neighborhood on a regular basis. In fact, we see them every six months or so. Some years we see them more often than that. Just today, a man approached my driveway as I was getting out of my car, still in uniform and with my arms full. He handed me a pamphlet and claimed that he was selling "green" products. He also claimed that he was a college student going to school as a sociology major and was earning money for college. This is pretty much what all of their salesmen say, except that they usually state that they are from Chicago and tell you a sob story. He was just walking over to my car, as if to spray the product on my car, when my neighbor came accross the street with one and a half bottles of their products. My neighbor stated that the products are ineffective on pretty much every surface in their house and he wanted to return them. The "salesman" then stated "I didn't sell them to you. I don't want them." When I asked how a customer would go about returning the products should they be unhappy with them, all he would say is "I didn't sell it to him." So I asked what I should do if I bought the product from him and needed to return it. He threw up his hands and put the products in his backpack. He was turning to leave and I told him "I wish you the best." His reply? "Don't wish someone something you don't want to be a part of." He repeated this twice. Not only is this guy probably part of a scam, but he has poor manners. He couldn't sell anything with that approach.

ACH Fraud!

ACH FRAUD! DO NOT GIVE A STRANGER A CHECK!

I bought 8 bottles of Advanage Cleaner and wrote a check for the purchase. Soon after that, 3 different parties tried to make purchases via ACH on my checking account. All the criminals need are a checking account number and a bank routing number to perform ACH fraud. Since we check our accounts daily, we were able to catch the fraudulent charges. However, it was such a hassle dealing with each fraudulent ACH charge because we had to go to the bank in person and fill out forms. We ended up closing the account. I know it was from the check I wrote to T & B Sales / Advanage Cleaner, because we rarely write checks on that account. I highly suggest that you never ever write a check to a stranger that goes door to door selling you anything. I will never again do that.

Sales person has lots of personal stories to tell

This lady came to my door telling me her nine year old son has sickle cell anemia and this company provides her with health care and the care for her son. She was homeless at the time and got her job with this company. She also said that she is 5 months pregnant right now and she shouldn't be walking as much as she is now. But for her son's care, she has to. She seems to be very openly about her personal life. So I asked more questions...

She grew up in Nigeria, moved to United States when she was 18. Pregnant at the time. First kid was born in the US. She has been working for the company for 15 months. The company is also paying for her online college. She is taking three classes each term. She is currently taking Algebra, English and Social Studies. She doesn't know what course number those classes are correspond to, nor how many credits those are. She says she can complete her bachelor's degree in four years. Classes can be transferred to a different school. She already confirmed it with the online college. She just finished her second year of school, she has two more years to go.

Other than the fact she is currently pregnant, she has four kids. Two oldest kids live with her mom in a different state during the school year. Her mom is home with disability and collects food stamp to feed her the kids. She sends $60 a week to her mom so the kids can go to daycare for two hours a day after school while her mom picks up her husband from work. The two younger ones live with her and the company provides daycare while she works........ The stories goes on and on.....

Those are all of the thing flying out of her mouth after I asked. I may not know of her personal life, but I can't think of any online college that will be able to give you a degree by only taking 3 classes a term for four years. Not only that. After completing second year of school, the classes she is taking are Algebra, English and Social Studies?! She worked for the company for 15 months but she has already done two years of school? Then who paid the first term or two? She was homeless before she got the job. She worked for the company for 15 months. She already finished two years of school. If you are an educated person, do that math and tell me that is a completely totally legitimate story.

After reading many people saying that the sales person tries to pressure you into buying things. Now they are trying to make you feel sorry for their sad lives so you buy their product.

In the end, I remembered that I bought a bottle from someone a while back. I brought out my bottle to show her. She looked at my bottle and said, "oh, that's old, they were from 2006." Gosh lady!! You have only worked for the company for 15 months!!! It's 2015 now and how would you know the bottle from 2006??? My home was built in 2009, I didn't move in until 2010. I probably bought this bottle in 2012 or 2013. I still remember the black boy who came to sell me this from Georgia who was homeless as well. I bought his story last time. I don't think I will fall for it again.

I told her that as she can see, I still have my supply and didn't need it anymore.

I am really done with this company. Won't buy it again...

Advantage Cleaning Products

They are from Chicago now. Two fast talking ladies came to my door and when I saw the bottle of cleaner I immediately said no way! Had been ripped off by this company 10 years ago. Bait and switch for sure as product they gave me never worked. It was like perfumed water. They tried to say I didn't mix it right (really, how hard can it be to follow mixing directions?). Then started on "you used the orange one on the carpet when you should have used the lavender". Ten years ago there was only one product so no, that wasn't it. After a myriad of reasons why I didn't do it right the first time, they launched into the hard sell and started scrubbing my front porch and the demonstrated with the ever popular sharpie on a rag routine. I am not scrubbing sharpies off of rags so I was unimpressed. They did get the green mildew off the edge of the siding that I could not get off myself with Dawn. They almost convinced me but I couldn't see spending $40 a bottle and I still wasn't sure they were telling the truth or weren't forced to go door to door as seen on the internet. They pushed that the product was a concentrate and worth it. I said no thank you. Then they started in on "now you taking money out of my baby's mouth" and "I live in a hotel and help me get outta the hood". Little did they know they were singing their song to someone who grew up the same way and the "poor me" balony wasn't working.

Pushy, Rude and Argumentative

Learned a lot on this forum just now. They're here in my neighborhood again today (Dec 2014) and it looks like for the first time, we got a female. I've seen these young black kids doing the D to D thing several times in the past. I've never bought anything from them but I've learned a lot about the commonality of their sales tactics.
Tonight, it was after dark, I was bringing in the recycle bin from the curb, and a young black woman walked by and said, "If I knock on your door later, are you going to answer ?" I said "No" and that I wasn't interested in what she was selling (Before sunset, I saw her working the other side of the street, washing front windows on houses while the owners watched, etc). We ended up in a near-argument for about 15 minutes, during which she hauled out the "helping kids get out of the ghetto" thing, and telling me she feels if people say they aren't interested, but don't close their door on her, she takes that to mean they really are interested, etc etc. I suggested that maybe they were just trying to be polite (which, of course, salespeople are universally trained to exploit), and I could tell she never thought of it that way, it was just 'people behavior' that her sales instructor warned her about.
A picture of her as a victim of the Van Man and T & B Sales settled in my mind, and my statements were formed around that. I felt like I was trying to get my daughter to listen to me. Rotsa Ruck. She wasn't about to stop going back and forth with me, though, until I continued pushing my recycle bin up the driveway, which I finally did. She had spirit and was being used, but it wasn't my problem.

Complaint of the complaints

I don't really get why people are saying this product doesn't work. I've had stains in my house and on my car that I gave up on because everything I used, from water to oven cleaner to get out, didn't work, yet this did the job. I've gone through 3 bottles of it now, each bottle lasts about 1-2 years. It's crazy how much this saves from you having to buy other cleaners that don't work, and from the stuff you just toss out because you can't clean it up. For those that get the "watered down product'... send it back for another one!

offensive practices of Advantage cleaner

Door to door salespeople have come to sell this product to me in three different locations that I have lived in since the early 90's. They are always young black people (college age) almost always men. I live in an area, that until recently, is mostly white or hispanic. I don't care what race or gender the salesperson is, for any product. Here's my problem; every time (except for once when it was a woman), the salesperson copped either a "I could be out committing crimes that you would suspect a young black man to be committing, but instead I'm selling this product D to D" attitude, and actually that's pretty much what the salesperson said to my husband around 18 years ago, or like I'm some rich Southern White lady in the South of the 60's "Maybe your maid or butler does the cleaning?" WTF!!!! I live in a fairly liberal Nor Cal college town! We don't have maids in my neighborhood, we have forclosure signs. Its like they hire a specific "type" to, I don't know, intimidate us back water white homeowners. I'm so angry and offended that they have been setting up their "sales staff" that way for at least 2 decades that I know of. HELLO,HAVE YOU SEEN OUR PRESIDENT??? I don't give a crap what race the D to D salesperson is, but don't assume that because its a young fast talking black man that I'm going to cower and buy it. I'm beyond offended.
I did buy it once, about 12 years ago. It was a very polite young woman, who wasn't fast talking (she was black, shocker!), but took the time to let me ask questions. As pleasant as my exchange was with her, I think the product is crap. Sprayable crap that I never used because it never worked.
I probably sound like a lunatic, but has anyone else observed this practice in their salesperson hiring? By the way, I'm a cold suspisious bitch to anyone who comes selling stuff at my door. Especially the young Scottish guy (again, WTF!?!) wanting to sit at my kitchen table to sell me on educational software. Just because he's a young white European man I'm gonna invite him in? No thanks, I'd rather not be shoved into my freezer in pieces.
These companies that hire in these patterns should be exposed for their offensive and racist pratices! And who are these young adults allowing this type of exploitation? And shouldn't these companies get more up to date with current events? I'm sure there's got to be another demographic for them to exploit! Just my opinion.

bait and switch

Wow. I am amazed at the story surrounding this product. I went on-line today to buy this product because - get this - my close, trusted friend recommended it to me. Yes, I believe her when she says that the product works really well (and she even bought it from a D-to-D salesperson and ordered more on the internet when it ran out). BUT...OMG... after my internet search, including reading the entire complaint string on this site, I WILL NOT buy this product under any circumstances!!! FIRST, yes - I think that some people actually did get legitimate product in the bottle(s) that they purchased, but considering that the company sounds really shady in terms of similar wacky stories from former employees, I wouldn't be surprised if the company cuts corners by filling some bottles with bogus liquid during financial 'down' times. SECOND, I wouldn't even order the product online because they still get your credit card information and can rip you off. THIRD, even when buying online, you can still get the bogus water instead of the legitimate product. FOURTH, even if the legitimate version of this product is great, I would never want to buy a product from a company like this one. And, it's all true - how do I know this? Well, if the same information is coming from many different areas and many different sources, then... need I say more?!?!

To the young former employees of this company ---- please, please, please ---- go get a job in a supermarket, movie theatre, etc. - where other young people get jobs. These door-to-door jobs are guaranteed to make you fail. Why? Because this type of selling stopped working as the internet started gaining momentum in the 1990's. People are simply not going to trust D-to-D sales because we can buy everything on the internet.

bait and switch

I had a salesman at my house yesterday. I did not invite him in of coarse but I was interested in hearing what he had to say. I'm in the sales field and believe everyone deserves a chance who is trying to make a living. I went ahead and made a deal with him & he said he would be back in about 30 minutes with the product, payment on his return. While he was gone I read all the blogs on this site...most are negative. What I noticed is most comments are about the fear of door to door salesman. Don't open the door than. I saw both positive & negative comments about the product and the company. Sales is a hard gig and it is a numbers game. That's one reason why I decided to go ahead with my purchase...I could afford it & I was helping the salesman make his quota. Today I used the product & I am pleased with the results. I picked my garage door...full of greasy fingerprints, on a white door, to clean first. 1 spray and the fingerprints were actually melting away. 1swipe and they were gone. No scrubbing and I like the fact that it won't harm my cats. I AM PLEASED! Yes, I wrote in capitals and no I am not an employee.
