CRAZY HIGH BILL !!

Teco is the worst electric company ever, my electric bill had gone up from $160 per month to $350 in the past 12 months
so I search for another company only to find out that electric companies here are in florida are monopolized, there is nowhere else to go but them TECO, unlike other states,
This is after they just raised the amount in June 2023. Since TECO is a monopoly, we have no other avenues to pursue, this needs to stop.

Power outage

20 hours after the lights went out in the Lake Forest subdivision
TECO's power outage map still says "reason unknown".
We got mildly hit by Irma but no trees are down and the power runs underground. Didn't see a TECO truck all day
Since this morning 8am the number if customers without power remained around 320,000.

Teco

I been in my apartment for six months every month my Teco bill is between $200-300 I'm in a 500 square feet apt and I keep my air on 75 and I have 2 tv on and a night light thats it.

The utility company in Tampa Florida does not apply their own code conduct. Emera's ethics and compliance at Tampa Electric's is written but not practiced after working for them 25 years because I experienced a lot of code of conduct violations during the Madrid year. The treatment is unheard of

Tampa Electrc Employee treatment and termination

The utility company in Tampa Florida does not apply their own code conduct. Emera's ethics and compliance at Tampa Electric's is written but not practiced after working for them 25 years because I experienced a lot of code of conduct violations during the Pasr month.The treatment is unheard of and just does not add up to what Tampa Electric is striving for their shareholders.

Three code of conduct standards were not met while I was on on positive discipline for the first time with Lisa Urso my supervisor of 13 years. Ensuring employees with necessary resources to understand and comply with responsibilities is less likely to happen when action plan meetings are scheduled but cancelled before achieving the purpose. As I result I was terminated in March two years after seeking my Bachelor degree with gratitude my company covered all the expense to better my education and skills. Code of conduct 1.2 Management Accountability, 2.2 A respectful workplace and 2.3 A Equal Opportunity Employer standards do not reflect in this experience in leaving this company with the loyalty I pursued in 25 years employed at Tampa Electric. But I may never know why this month I was terminated. I wish the best for both of us in this separation still do not have my separation package after 20 day to take care of this transition.

Teco is the worst electric company EVER!!!

So we payed our bill a day after cut off and that was approximately five hours ago going on six! Ive called 4 times spoke with a supervisor explained to her I have a six month old baby four adults and two animals. Weve paid the bill and are still waiting to have them reconnect our power. I was informed my child was not an emergency "outtages" and "downed wires" are more important. These #### are quick to disconnect family and businesses electric but when it comes to reconnecting which we paid at 10:51 a.m. I'm being told it could be until midnight tonight to have someone come turn it back on. We are a low income family and cant afford to fork out money for a hotel let alone gas to our nearest relatives house. This is just ludicrous and I feel that this company should be abolished. They have absolutely no care for families. Not to mention a storm is about to start and we will be forced to be inside. Im so outraged its ridiculous. My husband is tempted to cut our power on himself and if they try to take us to court prove we paid our bill and were worried about our son, ###k teco and all they stand for. I wish the company would go down in flames. My AC unit reads 83 DEGREES not to mention its just about as hot outside. I havent been able to clean, cook, or even be able to live my normal daily routine due to they're carelessness. When the guy gets here there will be a note on my box saying ### YOUR COMPANY AND SERVICE. FIND A NEW JOB. Complaint will be filed IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!

CRAZY HIGH BILL !!

Just got a $349.56 bill from TECO for an 1,130 sq ft condo. That might not seem to bad to some but here's the kicker ...
The place is vacant , the A/C is off , the lights and ceiling fans are off and the only thing that is drawing power is the electronic thermostat that that I can monitor the inside temperature.
Told TECO service rep that and she said that she is "not responsible for the energy I use".
Will file a complaint with the State in the morning.

Disconnect

My wife signed up for electronic billing a payment went over and they turn the power off. I was sitting in the driveway on the phone when the guy came, he didn't say a word. These people are a joke. When i realized the Terd turned off the power i tried to speak with him and he just drove off. No notice or anything. I'm sure they will stick us with a hefty reconnect fee. Cowards.

TECO Tampa electric

Have I got a nightmare story about Tampa electric? I moved from N.Y. to Tampa Fl. 6 months ago. They tell me in spite of my good credit they need a $250 deposit. I explain to the women that I feel that is an unreasonable amount to request for a deposit, that my N.Y. deposit was less than half of that. The women said you are not in N.Y. anymore and without the $250 deposit you will not get electric. So I search for another company only to find out that electric companies here are monopolized, there is nowhere else to go but them TECO, unlike other states. Not long after paying their $250 deposit my nightmare began. The bills consistently arrived late and when I contacted them, they claimed it was the post office, so I took my complaint up at the post office and they asked if I had problems with other mail besides the electric bills, which the answer when I thought about it was no. So to be safe I decided to send larger amounts in so I can work off the overdue balance since I kept receiving their bills late. About 4 months later late January I receive a bill for $28.00 so I figure I’ll let it roll into Feb. and make a large payment and work off my overdue balance. Well I did not get any other bills yet and then on Valentine’s day Feb 14th I get a disconnect notice I was shocked , but what was more shocking was the disconnect notice which I received in the 14th of Feb was back dated and said my electric is scheduled for disconnect on the 13th of Feb. It totally didn't make sense. They had already closed by the time I got to my mailbox on Valentine’s day So early the next day Friday morning 8am I contacted them . They told me a total of $90 was due and I said no problem I’ll pay larger amount as I always due and work off the balance. Then she tells me it’s too late as a truck is in my area and my electric is already scheduled for disconnect and there will be disconnect/connect fee. I thought at first she was joking. I owe a measly $90 bucks that and I’m willing to pay immediately and there determined to shut my electric off and charge me for it. Now how crazy is that so I explain to the lady that I have a 3 year old special needs child that has bronchitis and as prescribed by her doctor needs to use a nebulizer 3 times a day which is runs by electric as well its extremely chilly and have the heat on and she’s under the covers and not well. Also she’s on a special diet and all her foods need refrigeration that this is detrimental to her health, Again another shocker she states that’s not there problem and that I should of thought about that before I decided to be late with the electric bill. I than asked her how silly she sounds we are talking about one time lateness and for 90 bucks and the fact that the only bill I received in the last month was for $28.00 and that the disconnect notice was backdated which I received on the 14th of Feb in which stated cut off on the 13th that this is absolutely insane and I never in my life have dealt with such an unprofessional company let alone a multimillion or possibly billion dollar electric company. I asked what is the quickest way to pay and she told me Amscot so I hung up on her to Immediately run over and pay the $90 I did not pay additional funds figuring they were going to try to steal it and put it towards a disconnect fee. I get back from paying at around 9:15 am and low & behold a white pick-up is parked in my driveway and he's disconnecting my electric. In my 54 years of life I have never had this happen it was beyond bizarre. Even when I showed him the $90 is paid he said he has to call the company in order to connect and when I told him about my sick special needs daughter in the house, he expressed no interest what so ever. I insisted he reconnect immediately or I’m calling 911 that a child’s life is at stake here that this is a very serious situation this is not cable TV or internet service This is electric a necessity . He actually laughed and challenged me to do it so I did and blocked his truck in with my car so he couldn't leave. It was crazy I couldn't believe this was an electric company I was dealing with all for 90 bucks as well they rushed over early in the morning to cut my electric on a Friday knowing the soonest turn on would be Monday. The cop showed up and after I explained everything showed him documentation of payment and my daughter’s hospital records and IEP disability records even he could not understand it either. He told the guy to immediately turn the electric back on that the bill is now paid, but the guy told me I will be charged a $150 connect fee. I became angry so the cop told me to move my vehicle and let him leave and take it up with the electric company. Well that was a waste I was on the phone with those lying scheming company until 4pm that day, I spoke to over 6 different people and so called account managers who told me over & over they will not remove the $150 fee and when I told them I refuse to ever pay that and plan on filing a complaint with the Fl. District attorney’s office they all but laughed and firmly told me that they do not accept partial payments and if that fee is not paid in full along with any electric balance they will immediately disconnect. She also added to my amazement that my original deposit of $250 is being reassessed and most likely will be raised significantly. How crazy is this company, how can they get away with this. Is there no laws protecting customers from this sadistic company is there any place else to turn to for electric? Would it be worth my efforts to file a complaint with the district attorneys’ office as probably nothing can be proved? If anyone can suggest anything or has experienced a nightmare like mine maybe a class action suit can be filed. reimbursement of my deposit

I recently shut off my power off and were i moved to doesn' ave TECO, and part of my deposit paid what i owed on the final bill, but i am owed the remainder of my deposit, and i haven't received my refund check of the difference. When should I get the difference.

deposit and high bill

My electric bill had gone up from $140 per month to $200 in the past 6 months and I live in a small 850 sq ft apartment. I put a $190 deposit down when I moved in and a year later they are asking for $150 more. I have been late on my electric and even got it shut off once. I paid $50 to get it turned back on so they got thier pay for any trouble that caused. Even if late by a little they always get paid. Well this month my bill was $151 finally but with the $150 extra deposit it comes to $301. Well I am a single mom with two children I have raised well on my own for years and it's Christmas so you would think they could have some patients with me. I was 2 days late on electric because i didn't get paid until then and they turned off my electric. Now I owe $351 and don't have it. They could care less. I will go without and rough it for a while so I hope they feel real good about themselves. At least I have my kids and they are okay with it for a bit. It will probably make them appreciate the simple things in life a little more. God bless the greedy people out there that take from the ones just making it to get rich. I am also an LPN going to college now for my RN so this won't be forever. Those greedy people can't say I don't try to better myself in life that's for sure. Matter of fact I work in outpatient mental health and let me tell you, they are a lot of the reason people get depressed and have added problems. I can say that I have helped people and enjoy that a lot more then money could ever make me feel. Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year.

is everyone sending their complaints to the better business bureau? just complaining on here wont get any action done but you all need to get together and everybody on here at once send their complaints to the better business bureau site. another good site to go to and complain is the attorney general of florida. everyone, everyone, on here or not on here that has a complaint who really want action needs to start with doing those first two things. also, everyone could go before the city council, all hire one lawyer chip in the fees and go in front of a judge and sue teco. your right on everything ive read on here and experienced and im just a new customer. but please start with bbb and attorney general online. thanks. victoria
