I tried to write a check at stop & shop for $77.00 which I have done for almost 20 years and it was declined. At this point the cashier said I could use another form of payment which I did not have because I lost my ATM card. It was very embarrasing and everyone was looking at me like I was trying to write bad checks. I called my bank to find out why my check was declined and was told they were not sure because I had plenty of funds in my account and had to contact telecheck. When I called telecheck and spoke to a very rude man he said that my check was high risk for fraud due to not enough history of writing checks and it would take six days for there computer to update before I could try to write another check. Seven days later I went back to stop & shop to write a check for $22.00 and the same thing happened again. Again I called telecheck and was told the same thing again but also told next time try to write a check for a smaller amount and it might get approved and I had to wait another 7-10 days before I could try to write another check. I lost it at this point. This is ridiculous that a company can decline your perfectly good checks for such stupid reasons. I have never written a bad check buy have been made to feel like I did. After some research I found that shop rite does not use telecheck so I tried to write a check there and had no problem at all. As long as stop & shop uses telecheck I will never shop there again. Shop rite will get all my business from now on. Shame on telecheck for this unfair and unnecessary embarrassment and stop &shop for allowing this company to embarrass there customers for no reason at all.
