For me, this possibility that the tetracycline affected the immune system is interesting, as in my case it is very possible. My mother was given tetracycline when she was pregnant with me in 1970. While this definitely has affected my teeth ( odd tooth color, fragile teeth and jaw weakness / holes) it is possible as well that it affected my immune system. I am type 1 diabectic, have thyroid cancer and
fibromyalgia-- all of which are related to auto-immune disorder.

Hey, Pfizer------ I had no way to make a decision on possible side effects as I wasn't old enough to agree to anything and my mother was not informed of the possible side-effects, even though it was known at the time she was given it, that it would damage the teeth of an unborn child--- so where is the payment for at least all my dental bills? And, if the relationship between tetracycline and immune disorders is also accurate, how about paying for my diabetes supplies and meds to deal with thyroid cancer and the fibromyalgia?

Own up and make it right, already! You owe us, the kids who had no choice!

I was put on tetracycline aggressively in 2010 for MRSA. I took the drug for 2-1/2 months, 4x a day at the highest dose. I finally stopped after the stomach pains were so bad, I was vomiting. I have not been sick until now. I acquired pneumonia around Thanksgiving and was given Levofloxacin as my antibiotic. I seemed to be better after 2 weeks. One month later, it came back and my doctor refilled the prescription. I had extreme side effects the second time (migraines, severe insomnia, deep leg cramps, tingling in fingers and toes). I took myself off of them and called my doctor and he put me on my third antibiotic Augmentin. 875mg twice daily for ten days. I thought this would finally get rid of it. No, it was back again almost a month later. I have been given Levofloxacin again but after the first dose, those same bad side effects occurred again.

I know it may sound like it's the Levofloxacin, but I can't help but think that maybe the Tetracycline did something negative to my immune system where it now doesn't react very well with antibiotics. I hadn't taken any since the Tetracycline until this bought with pneumonia.

I don't know if anyone else has experienced this as I cannot find anything on the internet about it. I am going to consult with my doctor when he calls with my blood work at the end of the week. If more studies prove that this drug (Tetracycline) is linked to basically destroying one's immune system, so many people have the potential to catch something and not be able to recover. I keep praying this will go away for me. But, I still believe in my heart that Tetracycline is a drug from satan himself.
