I am 50 years old and I have never ever had a smile that I can be proud of with lovely white teeth. My teeth and my smile was ruined and taken away from me by the drug tetracycline. I was given this as a very young child and have suffered the consequences ever since. Every single day I have had to endure the heartache of looking in the mirror at my ugly yellow striped teeth. The thing that strikes me most is that the dentist never once consulted with my parents as to what the damage was to my teeth. This was just left to give people the impression that I did not clean my teeth and I DO clean my teeth twice a day. When I was a young girl other kids were so cruel towards me and made me feel very ashamed of my teeth. This is something that I have never forgotten, that lonely feeling as a child with these horrible teeth. I would love to have my teeth as they should have been before I was given tetracycline. I have considered veneers or even crowns but they are expensive and I don't have that kind of money to spend. The drug company should compensate everyone who has had this damage done to their teeth.

I too was given tetracycline in the early 60 ,s and my adult teeth came through brown/ grey colour,I would always refuse to smile in a photo because to embaressed .Yesterday at the grand old age of 55 I went to hospital and with sedation had all my teeth put and immediate dentures put in,I so wish I had the nerve to have had it done yes ago.Yes in some discomfort&pain, bit of swelling but I cannot stop smiling
