Last weekend I bank transferred and got british pounds.
When I went to do the same this week I find it not available and I have to use a credit card (which my bank may charge a cash advance charge)
Why when I have cash cannot i purchase pounds or Euros?
When I went up to Top Ryde store he was going to charge me over $500 when on the web it was only $459.14 why?

I called Travelex Money Transfer to ask them if they charge a commission fee when they exchange currency. They said they don't. They also told me that they will not charge a service fee on my money. I had to ask my friend to exchange 1100 US dollars for me because I was very busy that day. When he came back, I saw the receipt and couldn't believe that they gave me 9.49 pesos to one US dollar. I checked online at the current exchange rate and it was 10.78 pesos to the dollar. I calculated how much money I lost in the transaction and it came out to be $134.00!!! Do not go to travelex. If they did not charge me commission or a service fee, I have no idea what they charged me for.

There has been a fairly extensive survey done on Travelex and others in Australia and it will come as no surprise to this forum to hear that Travelex came out the worst on all fronts. Banks, Building societies, Credit Unions and Travel Centre at Wynyard all came out far better than Travelex.
If you use their website however, the results were totally different. The only problem is that you have to wait three working days to get your money yet, get this, you pick it up from the kiosk where it is the most expensive! Weird but true.
