I had the same problem and did some investigating with our telecom carrier. It turns out that the charges come from Triton Global or Fastrack. I called the 866-340-4990 number and talked to the pleasant service agent. Stated the charges and asked how I could avoid any future charges. The service agent said she could block my phone number so that the user can't call directory assistance. What happened was when the user tried calling a phone number that was changed to a different number the user would have pressed 1 to accept the charges and the call would have been transferred through to the new phone number. Triton's hours of operation are around 4 hours ahead of CST. Hope this helps you.

For a few months I was charged on my Bell bill $3.89 for "Operator handled customer dialed".
This is definitely a scam. I don't know who they are and what kind of services they provide.
How is it possible that there are so many scammers and the police doesn't do anything?
Be careful. Check your phonr bill. You may be another victim.

I have two charges on my Freedom Mobile account of $29.50 with a duration of 10 minutes and then another charge on a different day for $2.95 for 1 minute. When I contacted Freedom Mobile they were unable to tell me what the charge was for just that it was a call made to a premium number. The phone number "called" was 647-427-4012 I called this number using a free VOIP service and I get an automated message saying the number has been blocked and to call 1-866-340-4990. After googling the 1-866-340-4990 number I came to this forum. I tried calling that number and it's just an endless loop of "All of our agents are unavailable, please stay on the line" type garbage with the same music over and over. No one picks up. There is no indication of who the number belongs to. No company name is mentioned in the recording. I gave up after waiting 20 minutes on hold.

No answers, just questions. How is it this number put charges on my account without authorization? And how can I get my money back?

On my phone bill for the month of August 2019, I was charged $3.89 for directory assistance. I called Bell and told them I did not recognize what the charge was about and they reversed the amount. I then called Triton Global and they told me that I had made a call to Microsoft and the number that I had called was no longer in service and I was then given the latest phone number. The lady I spoke with said that there was a warning on the message that there would be a charge of $3.89 for the directory assistance which I did not hear. So beware! If you are calling a number that is no longer in service make sure not to accept any charges for your call.

Charge for 807-788-1246 twice for 3.89 for a total of 7.78 on my Shaw bill

Same scam happened to me. I have kept receiving my Bell's bill and found a long distance charge applied to it from Triton Global 778 806 5233 for operator handled customer dialed, from August 2018- March 2019, every month phone bill. I have no idea who this company is and why they ripped me off for $11.85/bill+hst. I can see from reading online that I am not the only one this company, Triton Global has scammed.
I have tried to call this company by phone# 8663404990, but it only let me to leave message, and nobody answer the phone all call back. I called Bell Canada also, but they told me this is not Bell responsible to stop the calling, I have to contact this Triton Global company to cancel the phone call. However, this company won't answer or call back.
Who can help me to solve this problem? and stop this company scam to other people.

We were charged $3.89 supposedly for directory assistance which we never used. Bell was kind enough to delete the charge and put a flag on the number. Both the Bell rep and I looked up this site on google and she agreed it looked fraudulent. Can’t this company be stopped!

Same story, telus authorized some random 4.99$ payment to triton. I never bought anything on my phone, never agreed to anything.

Danielle was outrageously rude. Accused me of lying and would not give permission to record the conversation. She said they did not have to prove any evidence that I called directory assistance and/or that I had responded to a voice message. She would not give me any names or means to further the complaint. I contacted Telus and understand that they have a partnership with Trident. We received my Rogers bill and see a Triton Global 3rd party call billed on there to 807-788-1246 Dir Assis ON for $3.89 made from our home phone. I don't know this company. We weren't even home the day/time it was allegedly made. I contacted Rogers and they did reimburse me, but stated that this was not their charge.

i have a $4.99 charge on my bill, called Telus and find out it was from Triton, never heard of this company before. i told Telus it was a scam but they did not believe me, they became an accessory to commit fraud and very unwilling to assist in fact accusing me of downloading some game due to the fact that i own the device, very rude manager, no customer service.. apparently on their system they see 2 incoming messages, no outgoing which means i never responded i have no history of those messages on my phone, no history of any apps download that was billable on my apple history. it’s clearly a scam from which Telus should protect its customers and not accuse them.. i can no longer trust Telus to act in good faith on my behalf, very bad service.. will be cancelling my service due to one hour wait time before getting an agent on the line but mostly due to very poor customer service..

I had an unauthorized charge on my phone bill for $30.00. Same story - no refund - talked to a rude person on the phone. We have zero protection from providers for these charges. My phone number isn't a credit card? My son is young and has a phone - got a text message and "allowed" the charge by responding as the text message said? I asked my provider to block these text messages - but they can't. I had to call Tricor to get them to block my number from any future billing. Hopefully they did ....

This company needs to be stopped - or at least provide consumers with some sort of protection from them.

Same scam happened to me! After calling the PC Master Card #, a voice came on saying I needed to call their new number and asked me to agree to getting that new number. It was the same number I had just dialed and when my Bell Aliant phone bill arrived, there was a $3.89 charge from Triton Global. If I pay this once, it isn't much money to me but imagine someone's pay day if they repeated this thousands of times! I HATE being ripped off!

Bell Aliant my telephone service provider has taken off this charge and advised me to call Triton Global @ 1-866-340-4990, Option. #1. I took their advice and called that number and a lady answered and told me that I had called President's Choice MasterCard on January 11th and Triton came online to tell me that the toll free # for PCMC which is 1-866-246-7262 had been changed and that I had agreed to pay $3.89 to get PCMC's new number. This was a lie. They gave me PCMC's new number supposedly but it was the same number that President's Choice has had for years. The same number I had called that Triton Global had intercepted to scam me with a directory assistance charge.

I told the person from Triton that this was a scam and how dare they charge me for something that I had not agreed to and from what I had read about them online they have been ripping off lots of people. She was very upset with me. She said my number would be blocked and they would not charge me anymore and then hung up on me.

My question to you National Consumer Complaint Board why is this continuing to happen to people. Why is Triton Global allowed to rip folks off? Why are you not stopping this company? Why aren't our telephone service providers protecting us from this company?

A charge of $3.89 for a collect call appeared on my Shaw bill. I contacted Shaw and was told they would remove the charge and block collect calls for me. I was given the number to contact Tritan Global to review the charge and if it was deemd legitimate by them, it would reappear on next month's Shaw bill. I contacted Danielle at Tritan Global who told me that even though we were not home to make/receive the directory assistance for which we were being charged, it was legitimate and I was essentially lying. When I enquired as to the possibility of speaking to someone else, she told me she is the only person running the show.
there's something wrong here since there are several complaints on the internet about...1. these (fraudulent?) charges on people's phone bills and 2. unacceptable behaviour of the Tritan Global Customer Service representative 3. the freedom this company has to assign these phone charges.

I have unknown collect call charges on my Shaw phone bill. They were regarding a collect call from Directory Assistance in New York that I supposedly accepted. I was angry and went on Shaw Chat and I was directed to the Triton Global website by Shaw for an explanation of the charges. I was charged $4.99 + tax on my Koodo bill for a call to a toll free number from Purolator. I got connected to Triton Global instead. They did not mention a $ amount for the service to connect the call to Purolator. This is a scam. I called Triton and the lady on the phone was very rude. I want a refund immediately on my Koodo account under phone number 905-626-4125. I also do not EVER want to hear about this company again.CRTC should do something about this company.
