Late baggage, missing items, Turkish airlines refuse to pay

Turkish airlines fails to accept responsibility for the misconduct of its employees. They will do all they can from making sure that you do not get re-emburised for lost items. My husband was made to feel like a criminal on a connecting flight where they refuse to believe his visa was real, than they pulled his carry-on luggage from him just as he was boarding the plane, taking with them all his prescription medications and clothing. To make matters worse they lost his bag for about 6 days, and when he recieved his bag he was missing some items. A report was made two days after receiving the bag, but for some reason the report has been deleted. When I tried to access the report I was not able to enter it, that's when they went on to further explain that I must start a new report. After doing so, they further proceeded to say it was pass the 7 days, when originally the report was started two days after receiving the bag. The odd thing is, that after making that first report I was blocked from the Turkish airlines site on the original computer I used. I had to use another computer to access their site. Now to make matters even worse they are doing everything in their power not to pay for anything, none of my expenses. They keep delaying and sending automated messages. I am looking into a class action lawsuit , if their is anyone else out there who also have had such experience we must work together to investigate what is going on with this airline and the criminal conduct it is doing.

Refused to refund tickets

We purchased 5 tickets from Los Angeles to Istanbul for late August 2016. Two weeks prior to travel Istanbul there was an attack at the airport and a week after that there were attacks in the city. Due to our safety and my fear of flying we had to cancel our trip. Turkish airlines refused to refund the money even after the state department issued warnings not to fly to Istanbul Turkey. We attempted to reason with them but they refused. It was a huge financial burden on our family. I would never consider Turkish Airlines again and advice others to do the same.

IF YOU CAN, USE ANOTHER AIRLINE

Turkish Airlines is awful. They closed the boarding gate twenty minutes before the departure time. I could not get to the gate before, because the airport was crowded, despite I have runned fast. The employees saw me, as they saw, too, an Asian family of four and a Turkish lady, who strongly knocked on the glass door, but they ignored us. They knew I was at the airport, as I did the check-in on time, but they did not mind. I think they were overbooked and so the last to arrive stays on the ground (in other airports we can hear them calling for passengers on the speakers, but not this one!). Then they did not care for me. They took advantage of the fact that I do not speak their language to ignore me (but they helped – and was the right thing to do - the turkish lady). They were very rude. They said they had nothing to do with me, was not their problem, they could do nothing since I missed the plane, so I had to buy another ticket (on information desk asked 800 Euros for a ticket!!). So I was left at the airport without any help, and I had to buy a ticket for the next day (which was more expensive than the initial two-way ticket). Later I complained to support service, but they continue to say that it's my fault that I did not arrive in time at the boarding gate. But it's a lie! They closed the door in my face, before the time!
Therefore if you use this airline, get ready, because they have no mercy.
And by the way, the service is nothing special ... The food sucks; and they gave me half a glass of wine and when I asked for more, they ignored.
I see now Turkish Airlines has thousands of complains in the Internet. They do not care for the passengers rights.
They reply the complains, with nice and beautiful words, while actually “stab us in the back” ... and with a smile :)
IF YOU CAN, USE ANOTHER AIRLINE

Ref: Regarding missing of baggage 0235 TK 082009 and 0235 TK 082010
We are two passengers who travelled together from Delhi to Istanbul on the 29th of January as per the references cited above. Our onward journey from Istanbul to Misurata was in your flight on the 30th of January as per TK 0645 E with numbers: ETKT 235 2492614638 and ETKT 235 2492614639. But the flight was cancelled and we were compelled to avail tickets from Istanbul to Misurata by Al Afriquia Airlines from India itself. After reaching Istanbul, we approached The Turkish Airlines Counter and informed about our luggage to be transferred to the onward flight which was done after a delay of 5 hours. We were issued tags bearing numbers: 0235 TK 082008, 0235 TK 082009 and 0235 TK 082010 for our three baggages bearing the name of Mohammed Zaheer. But only one baggage (0235 TK 082008) reached Misurata along with the flight and we submitted a complaint petition at the office concerned then and there. It is twelve days since we are approaching the Misurata Airport for our missing TWO baggages. They informed us that they have already sent you the information regarding the missing baggages. As our baggages contain very important things such as; Professional Qualification Certificates, Service Documents, Cheques, Job-testimonials, Medicine, dresses, and other valuable items, we are even at the risk of losing our job. So we give you 3 day’s time to give us a reply regarding our missing baggage or else we have decided to file a suit at the Consumer Forum in India for a compensation for 40000 U S Dollars (FORTY THOUSANDS U S DOLLARS) for the loss of our baggages. You have made us to suffer perpetually. We hope you would give us a reply and do the needful at the earliest.

Worst reservation Call center

Turkish Airlines has the worst reservations call center I have ever experienced. They have lied to us multiple times, we have been trying every day for a week to book a ticket.

They transfer you around, you can not get to a manager, they don't help and are wildly incompetent!
I used to love travelling with Turkish airlines and they have managed to turn a fan into an angry costumer who will always avoid dealing with this company
We buy over 100,000 US dollar tickets every year. ..and they have lost this revenue for their company.

discrimination - denied boarding

When leaving Istanbul for Los Angeles, flight TK 0009 10-12-14 1245pm. I boarded my flight and sat in my assigned seat (24A). Shortly after getting comfortable, another man stated that I was in his seat. Upon reviewing his ticket, we noticed that we both had the same exact info for this flight. We then spoke to the Air Hostess and she was shocked that this had happened and apologized and went to get her supervisor. This supervisor DID NOT SPEAK ENGLISH. Therefore the hostess had to translate for said supervisor. Supervisor preceded to inform me that I had to change my seat to 37b in the back of plane. I refused because I was already sitting in the seat. Nothing was said to the 2nd man who had the same ticket for the seat. After I refused to vacate, said seat, the supervisor than decided to off board me and threatened to get security to take me off the plane. I stated to supervisor that "O.K. than I need my luggage taken off the plane." This supervisor refused to get my luggage taken from the plane because he didn't want to delay the flight after threatening me. The supervisor then walked away and preceded to give the 2nd man a BUSINESS CLASS seat. We were both in the same situation but, I feel I was discriminated against and shocked at how rude the airlines' personal was being to me. Even the air hostess was shocked at how rude her supervisor was and continued to apologize for the his behavior after flight had taken off. Mohd. Raheem 818-402-2569.

Deny boarding and not fly us to final destination

Here is our experiences. We booked confirmed fly on 22 August 2014 for 4 people (including a 3 year old kid). The fly was on 8:35am from Istanbul to Oslo. We arrived IST around 6:20am, more than 2 hours before departure and the agent gave us STD tickets. We asked him why their is no seat assign, he didn't explain to us those were standby tickets, just told us everybody would get their seat assign at gate. Then we went to gate, and ask again, the agent told us that we just bought a right to fly and it is same to everybody, and asked us to wait. Then we asked another agent at gate, he told us that our tickets are standby tickets, even we had a 3 year old kid and has international connection, he can't do anything. Then we waited at gate for more than 1 hour, and was denied boarding. Notice they never asking for volunteers fly on later fly? There are plenty of people who willing to take compensation to arrive 6 hour late. Then we didn't get on the flight. After that we were directed to about 5 places (gate 15, custom care, transit office, transfer line) in airport, and need to wait in line for all those place. After running around in airport for 1.5 hour, we were sent to denying office. Notice on the way, they told me they will fly us to our final destination (US). Then in denying office, they told us because our connection tickets were not on 1 ticket, they will only fly us to Oslo instead of US. They didn't give us any help. The agent even told us "Did I let you buy those connection tickets?" They ask us to call turkish airline custom help from their office and we hold for 45 minutes and nobody pick up the phone. They didn't even try to get us on an early fly, so we can catch our connecting fly. They didn't help us found a manager, they said the managers are walking around in airport and we need to find them ourselves. We ended up paid for $2800 for changing our connection tickets and $400 for hotel for stay extra 2 days in Oslo by ourselves. The money (400 euro) they paid to us can't even cover the amount we paid for changing fly. Not to mention I need to stay 2 more days, and all food and other expenses. They said "You just bought a right to fly." So if you are counting on the fly will be arrive on time, that is wrong expectation and they told us the system assign stand by ticket randomly. Also don't believe any of their agent's words, most of them are not true. They think they paid you some money, so it is their right to treat you like that.

unfriendly staff

I was at istanbul for a two hour layover. I went to the gate (308) and asked a lady there, where I would be able to change the seat for the next flight because i was not able to do so in the flight before. the lady, not even looking at me said "come back late, it's too early". she was walking away but i asked "but how much later? 5minutes or an hour?" and she replied "1 hour later... I don't know, this is not my flight!" I was very offended and even more astonished to see her behind me on the escalator talking and laughing to her colleges just a minute after.

An hour later I go back to the gate and ask another lady sitting there if I can change my seat to an exit seat and she immediately answers no. I explain I have a gold member and try to ask if it's possible to block the seat next to mine instead but she interrupts "everything is booked already and there's only two seats left so it's not possible for me to change, do you understand? Why do you want to change it anyway?" Although offended I answer "Because it's a 12 hour flight and i get sick easily and I'd like not be be stuck to a passenger with really broad shoulders and feel very uncomfortable"
So i ask if it's not possible to change my then assigned seat to the one next to the free seat (so i can block it) and she says pointing to the waiting passengers "it's not possible but you can ask the person yourself if they will change seats with you" unwilling to help at all.
I was in shock. Did she expect me to find the passenger next to the free seat by myself before boarding? Isn't it her job to use the computer in front of her to see if she can make changes? Such an unhelpful and unfriendly attitude. I would have rather talked to a robot. It would've been a lot more pleasant.
If she had though, taken the time to actually check my ticket, she would've seen that I had a fairly good seat that allowed more feet space as it was in the middle of the plane. All that hustle and me feeling offended by her attitude could've been avoided.
It is unacceptable how they treat passengers looking for help and information. I was very dissapointed by their unfriendliness and lack of help. If she can't handle this, she should look for another job that doesn't require human contact.
I have a flight back via istanbul again soon. I very much hope that I don't have the same kind of problem with your workers there.

Turkish Airlines Reservations

We booked flight from LAX to IST back in March for September 2014. Unable to select seats until 100 days out. Tried to select seats on website but apparently not possible (A very poor website in general - I recall having terrible difficulties making reservation back in March too). Called the 800 number and it wasn't answered until almost 50 minutes then the agent said she would look up the reservation and put me on hold to silence. Held on and she came back after more than 5 minutes but then put me on hold again. Waited until the phone was cut off at 59 minute mark. Called a second time. This time agent answered at 27 minute mark asked for reservation n umber - put me on silent hold then came back after 4 minutes and asked for seat preference. I told him my travel companion needs a right hand aisle because of knee surgery and requested 16J he put me on hold and after another 22 minutes I had to give up. Because of the knee problem it is very important that we get a seat for such a long flight that my companion can use. How do we do this? Never mind my reservation and both returns.... How many hours should we have to spend trying to accomplish this?

Damaged suitcase

On May 22, 2014 as I was waiting at the Turkish Airlines in Istanbul for my next flight, I got paged. Then a couple of security associates stated that I would need to identify my suitcase. After a long wait, they finally took me to where the suitcase was located and stated that there has been a damage to the suitcase and they asked me to let them know whether or not what was in the front zippered pocket where the damage was, belonged to me. I stated all of those do belong to me, but what if some other items that do belong to me are missing, because I can't quite remember which luggage had what in it. They stated that for that matter I would need to contact Turkish airlines directly. I mentioned to the gentleman that, as it appears, someone has deliberately gotten into the pocket and has broken the zipper. This could not have happened due to the suitcase being mishandled. Plus this was a brand new luggage set and in perfect shape. He quite agreed with me and emphasized on the fact that Turkish Airlines is responsible for it and should pay for all of the damages. I have numerously tried to contact Turkish airlines by phone; however, I have been told that the only way to get this issue resolved is by leaving an online feedback. Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Never Answers Any of Their Phone Numbers!

I've been trying to cancel three tickets purchased on Turkish Airlines. The web site does not allow cancellations of US origin flights. I have called at least 7 numbers approximately 50 times and NO ONE ANSWERS THE PHONE!!!! I've never in my years of travel encountered such lack of customer service. What am I to do?

monetary voucher

On 1-2-14 I was to board a Turkish airline with my daughter. We were turned away due to an overbooking of 37 passsengers and had to stay overnite in Istanbul. Turkish Airlines placed us in a dirty old hotel and issued us vouchers for 700 Euros each. When we arrived in Chicago we immediately turned in our vouchers to be reimbursed at their customer service department. We have yet t receive ANY checks for this amount. Honestly how long does it take? When wil the checks arrived???
