I was retrenched in August 2015 , submitted my claim end of September however the company that I worked for paid me for the month even though I wasn't employed the month of September. I had to get a letter of appointment and end date from my company from our legal and compliance which indicated that my end date was August and NOT September !!!! I returned to the Labour office in Athlone last Monday after 8 weeks as I was instructed to and the lady that assisted me assured me that I should receive payment no later than the end of the week. It is exactly a week later and I then took it upon myself once again to be proactive and enquire why no payment has been received ... lo and behold I was told that I made my application a few days too early and that I now have to re apply and wait another 8 weeks ... WHAT THE HELL !!!! Why do I have to wait so long for my own damn money ? and why do I have to re apply , also I would like to know how the dept. of labour suggest I pay my debt and how do I live when they are withholding what's rightfully MINE !!!!
