Greg Toole starts new fracking-service company

Barrett Goldsmith, Reporter

Greg Toole is no stranger to hydraulic fracturing, but he didn’t expect to reconnect with that particular process in such a big way.

Having already formed and sold a pair of fracking companies in his day, he was resigned to a quiet life in Panama City, Fla., when he began to hear rumblings that it might be a good time to get back in the game. Now, Toole is at the helm of a new Houston-based company, Ultra Tech Frack Services LLC, which has secured $26 million in financing and has plans to expand in a hurry. By the end of this year, the company expects to have some 100 employees across the state of Texas, including 10 in Houston with more added in the coming years.

Though experts believe the major exploration and production players have their fracking services already lined up with little need for more service providers, Toole believes there is a market for smaller operations that his company can supply.

“After the Permian Basin International Oil Show in October, I started studying and found out there certainly was a need for more capacity in both the Permian and the Eagle Ford” shale, Toole said from his office in Midland. “I figured there would be a tremendous amount of demand.”

Having identified a need, Toole went about trying to secure financing. Enter Graham Whaling and James Parkman, managing directors and cofounders of Houston-based private investment bank Parkman Whaling LLC. The bank has notched a number of $200 million-plus deals involving bankruptcies, reorganizations, startups and spin-offs, but Parkman and Whaling are backing Ultra Tech as private investors, along with a number of “well-to-do” exploration and production veterans, Toole said.

“There are no institutional investors here,” said Whaling, who will chair the board of Ultra Tech. “The rig count is about 50 percent horizontal now, and we think it could be as much as 80 or 90 percent in the near future. We’re just here to create jobs and get these wells fracked.”

The initial funds will go toward a first fleet of seven 2,500-horsepower fracking units in the Permian Basin of West Texas, primarily serving the Wolfberry and Avalon shale plays. Following that, the company plans to launch a second, 10-unit fleet in the Eagle Ford shale, set to be ready in early 2012. Toole said that, within a year, the two fleets could have a combined monthly revenue of between $15 million and $20 million per month.

The company’s headquarters will reside in about 3,000 square feet at 11931 Wickchester Lane, just north of Interstate 10 and west of North Kirkwood Drive.

Joe Hill, an analyst with Houston-based Tudor, Pickering, Holt & Co. LLC, said the market for fracking is huge — perhaps $28 billion in 2011 — but dominated by the “big three” Houston service firms: Halliburton Corp. (NYSE: HAL), Schlumberger Ltd. (NYSE: SLB) and Baker Hughes Inc. (NYSE: BHI). Together, they account for about 45 percent of fracking business in North America, Hill said. The remainder is provided by midsized companies like Cisco-based Frac Tech LLC, Houston-based Weatherford International Ltd.(NYSE: WFT) and Indiana-based Superior Well Services Inc. (NYSE: SWSI).

“It’s pretty late in the game to be adding capacity,” Hill said. “There might be an issue of oversupply, and it might be about nine months late. But paybacks are really good, so if you can find customers it’s potentially very rewarding. Still, it’s more of a gamble than I would be comfortable making.”

Toole hopes his experience will pay big dividends, along with that of a senior management team that includes Gerald Smith as vice president of operations and David Barringer as vice president of engineering. Both Barringer and Smith held senior management positions with BJ Services Co., a division of Baker Hughes. Toole will serve as president and CEO and be part of the board of directors, along with chairman Whaling, Parkman, Michael Watsky and another director to be named.

Prior to what he calls his “semi-retirement” in 2001, Toole founded Ultra Tech Services, a similar company he now affectionately calls “Ultra Tech 1,” in 1982, before selling it in 1993 for an eight-figure sum.

I worked for Toole in the 90s . He is so full of crap he is just a Con Man.
He did not Sell Ultra Tech Services for 8 figures. The company was shut down and bankrupt and he Blackmailed a Gas company to take the assets as part of a Lawsuit settlement. How he conned this investor group into giving him money is beyond me, guess they dont know what due diligence is. All they had to do is ask others that worked there like Mr Garza and they would have known the truth. 26 million? You can kiss that goodbye.

If You Can’t Beat Them, Hate Them

Here’s the point I’m trying to make: You can’t get on top without making a few enemies. As you climb higher up the ladder of success, you become a bigger target for people. They see you as a threat because you’ve achieved success beyond their own. Out of their own envy and competitiveness, they try to pull you down.
This is what psychologist call the crab bucket mentality. It’s a way of thinking by some people that “if I can’t have it, neither can you.” The metaphor refers to a pot of crabs. The crabs grab at each other in a useless “king of the hill” competition, which prevents any of them from escaping and results in their death
Mark Zuckerberg is a great example of this. As the tagline for the movie The Social Network goes, “you don’t get to 500 million friends without making a few enemies.” As Mark and his website rose in popularity, some of his friends and business partners became his enemies like the two brothers who sued him for $65M and one of Facebook co-founder, who Mark squeezed out of the company.
I’m sure there are countless of other examples where people attacked a person just because he or she is successful. If you look at other people who have gotten at the peak of their respective discipline, no matter how nice, virtuous or friendly this person is, I guarantee you that that person has critics, haters and enemies. Mark Zuckerberg is not an outlier. It’s a general principle: you can’t get on top without making a few enemies.

Those who began this website lured us all in under false pretenses to besmirch a man’s name, and that is a libel offense. Stating ones opinion in the United States is legal, but stating an option and trying to pass it on as fact is a criminal offense. For those who began this website, you seem to be a little hazy on the differences between fact and option, so please let me enlighten you.

Fact and Opinion are really different in the sense that Fact is something that is true and Opinion is only a belief. Fact and Opinion are really different in the sense that Fact is something that is true and Opinion is only a belief. Fact is supported by evidence and Opinion has no backing of any evidence.
A person who makes a factual statement knows that his opinion comes from Fact. Where as a person who just makes some Opinion does not have any facts to substantiate. While Facts are true statements Opinions are not. Opinion is only a subjective statement and Fact is objective reality. Opinion can only be an emotional outburst of an individual or merely an interpretation.

I will conclude by making one final point of fact, and then I will let this forum die with those small-minded individuals that began it. In the United States all legal suits and property issues are of public record. All previous accusations in the forum have been looked into and found to be false.

So, whomever the anonymous persons are who created the fake alias of Andrew Johnson and Tony G are full of it. They did not even get the location of where he allegedly "fled" to correct. What a joke. Sounds like someone just doesn't like him. Really crappy that they would actually post something like this, but trashy people have trashy ways.

HANCOCK BANK v. TOOLE et al is fiction or false?
The lawsuit between Greg Toole and Transamerican Natural gas and Southwest texas services are fiction or false?
Do you have some letters from the FDLE and FBI stating they are not Investigating Greg Toole?

Your rambling talk about Zuckerberg sounds like you been smoking to much weed because that has nothing to do with this unless your trying to compare Toole to Zuckerberg? not
Sorry Sarah but you are talking out your a** about things you obviously know nothing about and I doubt this forum is going to die anytime soon. Greg did not make a "few enemies" he made a a whole bunch of them and eventually they will find this forum and post. Every post that is made here brings this site higher rank. Thanks for posting!

The case of HANCOCK BANK v. TOOLE is not a criminal proceeding, the nature of this case is real property. Looks like he invested too much in property and missed a few payments. Are you going to post hate blogs against everyone in the US that has been foreclosed on in the last couple of years?

I found this website last night bc of some weird email that was sent to me at 130am in the morning about a car lot or something. I couldn't believe what I saw. Greg Toole is a great family man, and a great boss. In this current economy you can't find a job. Greg started this company and created lots of new jobs. I was out of work for about a year, and he hired me at a real good wage and with good benefits which doesn't happen in this economy.. My family and I are now doing good because of this man. He also takes care of all his employees. We call him Papa Toole, because he makes sure that all his employees get all that they need and he helps us out if we have any problems. We can always go to him for help, he is a real stand up guy. A shame that there are people out there that post this kind of stuff.

You should ask how he took care of his Employees last time. They were all out of Jobs and work and he fled to paradise and built villas at the beach. Why dont you ask him about the money split with the employees then when he got the settlement? there was none.

Greg Toole took his "8 figure sum" and went into "semi retirement" leaving his past employees and creditors screwed. Now he is back after screwing up his "semi retirement" in Panama City. Now he is back to fill up his bank account with others money. AGAIN. IF he was such a great guy then why did he not share that settlement money with the people who helped him make it?

Employed, I would not worry about your job. It is pretty clear where the money came from for this venture. If Greg Toole deceived Graham Whaling and James Parkman when he took their money it would be safe to say that these guys have a way out. I am pretty sure they are not going to let the reputation of one man reflect on them. They must see that Greg Toole is a sinking ship now and it is only a matter of time before more Blogs/websites/media sites start to pick up on this. I believe they will replace Toole. If what is on this site is true it will only be a matter of time before potential Ultra Tech clients get wind of the litigious past of Greg Toole and Ultra Tech, after all, Ultra Tech filed suit on its client last time. Once this information is known, other companies would not touch Ultra Tech or Greg Toole a 10 foot pole. Naming the new company Ultra Tech? big mistake.

Dont worry honey I am just getting warmed up. I have a list of 30 complaint sites just like this one and a thousand free blogs. I am dedicating myself to telling the truth about Toole on blogs, to the Media and to the Oilfield Industry. I am going to show him the same mercy that he has showed me and others around him, so you can stop writing what a great guy he is because I have first hand experience with him and I KNOW what kind of man he is. You think just because he ran away for a few years he can just come back and do the same thing again to new people. Think again. One thing I will make sure of is that anyone doing business with him will at least ask the questions that need to be asked. Hi Greg, still recording your phone calls?

This little advice is to the people at Parkman Whaling, Greg Records all his calls and meetings. He carries a mini recorder on him at all times.

I predict his next lawsuit will be against you. Be careful what you say.
That is how he blackmailed the owner of TransAmerican.

Now Greg, Did you forget to tell your new Investors how you did business in the past? that you recorded the owners of Transamerican and filed a lawsuit? How you threatened to give those tapes to the Creditors and Banks of Transamerican? That your own Employees wiped out your computers in your office? How you used Inferior products in your Fracs? Like Colgate soap instead of Industry surfactant? I bet you got some splainin to do.
