I had a gift card with a 6 month duration from another bank. I used the card purchase a gift card with a longer duration. I purchased a Visa card written off of US Bank. The amount of the card was $100 but when I checked the balance it was only $84. I contacted customer service (phone number found inside the package) and was told that the card was activated at the register at the time of purchase and the difference was due to monthly service fees. There was nothing on the packaging and I was not told that the card was activated immediately. The expiration date on the package and on the card is 2022. Customer service could not help me but they filed an inquiry and said I would receive a call back in 24 hrs. Surprise, no one called. I called again and the rep said I would get a call back in 48hrs (the wait is now 48hrs?). Again, I filed another claim to expedite. I called US Bank and the rep said she could not help me and there was no one in management who knew anything about the gift cards. She pointed me back to the people at mygiftcardsite.com. In my opinion, this is a very deceptive practice. $16.00 may be nothing to them but it means a lot to an unemployed person like myself. I encourage everyone who has had this type experience to speak out. The people have the power.
