Auto Leasing Practices
We leased a 2015 Buick LaCrosse on 11/13/2014 from Mike Juneau Buick GMC in Brookfield Wisconsin. We turned our car into the dealership on 12/05/2017. At that time, the car was inspected by the dealership and was found to be in great condition, with approximately 23,000 miles on it. The dealership explained that the bank would be coming to evaluate the end of lease condition of the car and determine if there were any problems. As part of our new deal, the dealership paid off the remaining two months of our lease agreement, thus paying off the lease. After that we heard absolutely nothing from US Bankcorp indicating there were any issues.
In January of 2018, we realized that we had not canceled our automated lease payments for the LaCrosse and had overpaid to the tune of $998.50. We contacted US Bankcorp and found the staff to be less than helpful. No one at the call center assisted us with finding out where the money was. We asked for our over-payment to be returned to us. No one said there was an issue with the car at anytime. Eventually, we went to our local bank branch and spoke with a banker there. She assisted us with canceling the lease payment and spoke with the leasing department to make sure everything was stopped. She asked the leasing department to return our over-payment. We were told it would take 7 to 9 weeks to have our money returned.
In March, we still had not heard one word from the US Bankcorp Leasing Department. We went back to the bank and our banker call the leasing department again. She was told we would be getting $736.20 back, which she did not share with us. Imagine our surprise when we received the check, with no explanation as to why it was $262.30 short. We contacted the our dealership and they said they did not know what the assessor found with our car but assisted us with making a three-way conference call between them and the US Bankcorp. The leasing department indicated there was a 4 inch scratch on one of the wheels, which was fixed before it was sent to an auto auction. Of note: At the time of the lease signing for the LaCrosse, we opted to take out the Tire and Wheel Protection Plan offered by IAS Warranty Inc, as the wheels were special aluminum wheels and would be costly to replace. We also had wheel locks placed on the lug nuts.
Problem: We never received any correspondence written, photographic proof or proof of repair from US Bankcorp. When we received the check, all it said was "Please find the enclosed refund check issued per your request." The wheels were covered by insurance when we turned the car in. During our thee-way call, we gave US Bankcorp's representative the policy number for the wheel coverage.
It is now May 2018 and we have not heard anything from US Bankcorp. We want photographic proof that a scratch existed and that it was indeed fixed. More importantly, we want our money back. We paid $455.00 for the wheel and tire coverage. To be out another $262.30 is a travesty.
Final comment: We have been working with this dealership for a long time. Even the dealership has decided that US Bankcorp is not a good option for their customers.
