Soliciting funds

Claims I filed online for a grant and I had been approved for $5000. Not a loan, do not have to pay money back. Just needed to give a $3.87 on-line processing fee. Got the following info: Name: Steven Johnson, US Government Grants Dept, 461 E 1000 South, Suite B, Pleasant Grove, UT 84062, or POB 333 PG, UT 84062. Web Site: www.grant.gov (no such site) Tel: 1/800-347-1191 (Caller ID comes up as CVS Pharmacy) Ext 301. Gave me ID Number of: USFR10112, and a Call Recording Number: 8600074. Called today at 11:14am.

I told Steve I do not own credit cards or bank cards and would send a check or cash. He said it had to be electronic and suggested I go to Walmart and purchase a $4.00 gift card. He wanted to know when to call me back. When I suggested I call him back instead, he told me he did not work 24/7 and he had to call me back. He said he would be there for another six hours . He kept arguing with me saying he didn't understand why I would pass up a $5000 grant for lack of $3.87. I told him I didn't want to, and could I please have another day but the line went blank at that time and he would not answer when I kept calling his name.

I knew from the start it was a scam, but wanted to get as much info from him as possible. When I mentioned the caller ID indicated CVS Pharmacy was calling, he said they have been having technical difficulties with their phone lines. I've seen many complaints on-line about this person and hope you can get to the bottom of it. Thank you, Peggy Kunkel

I just got another call from Verizon Wireless and a girl claimed she was calling because I had registered on-line for a sweepstakes and I had won a million dollars. When I asked her why the caller ID said Verizon Wireless, she replied, OK, that's great to know. Thank you for that information. She kept trying to get me to say certain words but I was silent. She wanted to transfer me to a specialist who could answer my question about the caller ID but I hung up. The number was: 315-484-5172 and the call came in at 11:46am.

Whatever you can do to stop these people would be greatly appreciated. Peggy Kunkel
