Husband & I were invited to test a key we received by mail to see if we won a pickup truck. We went and tried it, didn't win, listened to a long presentation, then they called us back to speak to a sales agent. This all took place around memorial day in 2019. We told the sales agent we were unsure about purchasing membership, but ultimately we decided to put a down payment down after being assured by the agent that we would have extra time to cancel due to the holiday and we would get our down payment back if doing so. If we cancelled outside of that time we won't be able to get our down payment refunded is what we were told. We went to the campsite the following day to check out the situation and see if it was for us. We had been told during the sales meeting that the membership was exclusive and without it we couldn't have access to their campsites, which we found to be false & wondered why we would be charged when anyone of the streets was allowed to enter and make use of the grounds. We decided it wasn't for us and tried to call and cancel. We couldn't get a hold of anyone, kept trying, then when we reached someone they directed is to call a different number. Calling the other number right away, we could reach nobody the first couple tries, then finally we were told that or trial time expired and we couldn't cancel or refund or money. We kept calling for weeks, they've given us so many numbers, we spoke to several unhelpful, some what rude associates, and now- a year later, we are still dealing with them. What we were tools during the sales pitch, is not how things were.... it is not what we agreed to pay for, therefore we haven't made payments. They recently turned this in and it is reflecting on my husband's credit report. How do we go about dealing with this? We are in Ohio and the resort we met at was at their Wapakaneta, OH location.
