I am the owner of a home in Ocala Florida which I have never occupied. I had acquired it so my son and his family would have a place to live.Sometime last year I started to receive calls from a collection agency stating that I owed money to a company called Vivint. I learned it is a home security company. I had never heard of them at the time and had never engaged in any contract with them and I explained that. However they state that since I own the property I was liable although I was not aware of it. I asked to be sent the contract so I could see signature and date of transaction and that request was not honoured. Now yesterday I received another call from a different agency and mildly intimidated that if I sought legal advice I would not be represented in court. that a lawyer would cost me a lot more than paying them. They wanted to ask me questions about my income and I refused to share that information. What can you advise me about the law regarding this issue?
