I have an ADA medical exemption from wearing a mask. I was at Vons and approached by a manager who understood and said, No problem. As I continued shopping, three employees bore down on me saying I had to put on a mask or they would call the authorities. I told them I had already talked with another manager. They refused to back down, and even allowed a non-employee to join in on the harassment. The followed me around the store. Another employee then joined in and said I would not be allowed to check out without a mask. All of these employees knew I had an ADA exemption, and an exemption card. Additionally, another customer who was maskless checked out, and after she paid, an employee told the cashier that she should NEVER allow anyone without a mask to check out. This is illegal and wrong. The first manager knew about the exemption. But the other three did not, and would not budge. This is a serious infraction, and can result in a fine up to $150,000. I will file a complaint with Vons corporate, and with the DOJ. This is discrimination and a serious wrong doing. These people are acting illegally and unethically.
