I purchased four tires from the Walmart TLE today. There was a wait time of two hours prior to being able to service my 2015 Toyota Corolla S.
Prior to service, the only light that I had on was my Maintenance light because I was also due for an oil change.
When I went to pickup my car, they stated there was a problem and that when they took my tire off the rim, the sensor was laying in the bottom of the tire and was broke prior to service and are not willing to replace it.
I am having a really hard time believing this because if the sensor was snapped off and just laying in the tire, the tire pressure light would have turned on immediately after it broke. This car is relatively new and I've already confirmed with a Toyota mechanic that the light would be on the very second it snapped off. Secondly, when looking at the sensor, there is not a single scratch or ding on it and it looks brand new. If the sensor was just laying in there, it would be all scratched up and dinged due to hitting the metal rim. I drive 2 hours a day to work at 70 MPH on the highway so there would have been significant damage to the sensor from being thrown all around.
If you also take a look at the break, you can CLEARLY tell that it was just broken because on the end of the part that connects the valve to the sensor there is still plastic from the sensor itself on the valve end.
Ive uploaded some pictures of my sensor to show how UNDAMAGED it is with absolutely ZERO scratches on it. Even if I just drove 5 miles to the TLE with the sensor broke off there would be scuff damage all over the plastic.
