united healthcare plan "D"

United Health Care, part D

I just hooked up with United Health care part D. The generic drug I'm getting is going from a level 2 to a level 3 at the beginning of the year. I was told it was b/o of a price increase. There is more than one manufacturer of this particular drug. I'm on the plan that is exclusive with Walgreen's. If I move to another plan, (that costs more) it will still be a level 2. I think Walgreen's should be shopping vendors/manufacturers for price/quality. I recently got a 90 day supply of this with a $9 co-pay. When it moves to a level 3, it's going to take a substantial price increase, to me the consumer....but NOT if I go with a plan that costs me more $$. That is the 1st issue. The second is this:

The script is for Valacyclovir. It is to suppress symptoms. The one I got from Walgreen's isn't working. The one I got from Publix does work. I did find out the names of the manufacturers, they are different, but I wasn't careful enough to write them down on the same piece of paper, that I can't find anyway. It is disheartening to "have" to buy from Walgreen's, and then find out the drug doesn't work. I take another pill every day, Sertraline 100 mg. (I break it in half) the one from your pharmacy doesn't break in half without splitting everywhere. These are the only 2 "must haves" for me, and I envisioned that the "entry level" (least expensive) plan would work for me. Any idea? If I find out the name of both manufacturers, will Walgreen's accommodate me?
