Holding FEMA FUNDS
Our home was destroyed by Harvey back in August 2017. FEMA assessed the damages in a timely manner and we were told to being the repair work immediatly or else we could jeprodize the funding for damages. An advance was given to begin the massive renovation. That was back in early September, in mid September we received the balance of the FEMA check to complete our home, as every one else has stated the check was made out to us and Wells Fargo. The check had to be over nighted to a specific address, not deposited in the local Wells Fargo branch. We waited for funds to be deposited for weeks, calls to the Wells Fargo branch were met with there is no check deposited to your account, the check must have been lost, we will begin a search that can take up to two weeks. We waited the two weeks, called back and were given more numbers to call, finally we land in Call Center Nightmare!
At this point, we have spent over one hundred dollars in faxes, because they keep changing the number they want the 28 pages of documents sent, documents that we didn't even know they needed, it was one of the many oops, we didn't tell you we need that, oh, I'm sorry, can you please send that again, we need it at this number. This Call Center has no clue what is going on, every person you speak to tells you a different story.
In a few days it will be the New Year and still we can't get the inspection that was scheduled back in Nov. Our house is completed but we can't pay the contractors, who did their work as scheduled, everyone did what they were supposed to do but Wells Fargo. I just got off the phone again with a Supervisor who told me it takes time to review the file and see what the next step is and a Call Center Supervisor who promised the inspector would call today so they could expedite the money to us, once the inspection is complete.
This has been a full time job daily as I call and battle with incompetent people and then the next ring of frustration as you speak with a escalation Representative who, finally says, Sorry I can't see the file that the Property Loss Department has but I will make a notation in the file to expedite this issue. Hours spent on hold, telling the same story over and over again. As others have noted, my next call is to my attorney, the State Attorney General and FEMA to let them know how this unscrupulous banking entity is once again playing fast and lose with other peoples money. This isn't the firsrt time this Bank has been found guilty of fraud.
