its not the matter of holding the money but they lied that the money would be there in 15min 5 times

My dad was sending me money for a car on 02/25/2012. I told him to go to western union it. He an got cash out of his account 7000.00. Sent to publix in Springhill FL, We waited for 3 1/2 hours. The lady at publix called them 5 times to find out where the money was the said it was on hold first and then they would tell us it would be the in 20 min but never would come. My dad is very old and didnt need the stress over sending money through a wiring company They should have never taken that long to send it or put a hold on it. It was cash money cost him 365.00 to send the money. I think he should be refunded this money back for all the stress they put me and my dad through. They do have the right to put a hold on money. Anything over, $2000 is subject to a hold, and over $3000 gets reported to the IRS. READ the website that tells you the disclaimers. It has nothing to do with how old your father is. It has everything to do with the money laundering laws.
