I too missed the room configuration I thnk it was ridiculous for the amount of money you pay that they don't disclose up front your 14 year old is sharing a small NYC hotel room with 2 double beds my son is 5"10 and 150lb his bunk mate was 6ft and 180 lbs these kids were crammed and exhausted. They get them back to the rooms at 10pm and they must be at breakfast at 6:15am. Granite they do see a lot but the kids explained they were rushed getting 15 minutes at the Vietnam War monument, Jefferson Memorial etc . They would have to get up by 5am to allow 4 boys to brush teeth an go to the bathroom giving them only 6 hours of sleep at night because they get back at 10 and two boys take showers at night so the others get the morning. My son said he was a zombie. They flew them on Spirit which was horrible airline then flew them out on a red eye then they land at 6:20 am and were gone the entire first day in 24 hrs he was given 5.5 hours of sleep. This is unexceptiable. Several kids got sick. This is an educational trip but it turned horrible he said the teachers were so exhausted they started opting out on the itenniary meaning the kids didn't see or do all the things paid for, we really messed up $2400 to share a room, get a measly $7 food allotment for each meal and miss 1/4 of the scheduled events is unacceptable!

My 8th grade son just returned from a World Strides trip to D.C. Overall had a good time. His only complaint was that it was a little awkward sharing a double bed with another 14 year old classmate. How did I miss this?!!! If that had been clearly communicated, I would have paid extra to get him his own bed. I just got off the phone with WS customer service and she made me feel stupid -- of course he would be sharing a bed if there are 4 kids to a room. I guess I just didn't think about the room configuaration...shame on me. I hope this helps someone else.
