Macy's seems to be managed at this point by short-sighted executives who don't care about the reputation of the company. I had the same experience of Worry No More not honoring the warranty and looked it up online. Now I see this is just a scam. Will I be buying anything else at Macy's where I've shopped for 30 years? Not likely. So for whatever measly cut of the $100 they received they will lose much more than I did.
