I purchased a sectional couch and a large area rug from Macys Department Store, in the fall of 2008, with delivery dates for 10-11-08 for the rug, and 11-01-08 for the sectional. I was encouraged by the sales people to purchase the worry-no-more warranty; and was told if I did not make any claims, the money would be refunded in gift cards to the store when the warranty expired.

When I called Macys a few years back, on an inquiry of a more recent purchase, and I inquired about these 2 purchases, and when I the dates were to call back after the warranties had expired. I was told to call in the fall of 2015, the day after each one expired. I have had a sticky note on my computer screen since then, waiting to make the calls at the appropriate times. At the time I talked to them, I was given the ME numbers for referencing the transactions.

Since the area rug warranty has now officially expired, I called worry-no-more today, and have now used 3 hours of a precious day off, only to find that I was told wrong....the area rug warranties are only for 5 years, and I should have called in 2013. They said they could not do anything for me; point blank. They transferred me back to a Macy's customer service gal, who did what she could, seeking out a worry-no-more supervisor. She was told I was out of luck. I thanked her for at least trying.
So now I am out the $118 extra on this rug that I already spent quite a bit of money on at the time. Who knows, when I call in November, what I will be told when I try to collect on the sectional.
Because I was mis-informed, it is somehow my fault.

This is a real problem.
