Wyotech
My son went to wyotech, for heavy equipment diesel mechanic. They put him in the wrong classes. He was put in diesel car mechanics. We had already finished all the loan paperwork. For his schooling and housing, as we live in Nv.
When they realized "their" mistake after 4 weeks we were told he could sign out of those classes and sign in for the next round. Mind you, the school already had all of his money- the housing included, $9,000.00. May not sound like a lot but the school made us put that one in my name. And I had 3 kids at home and I am a single parent . So they take his money and during is off time, he got a job of a lifetime that he couldn't say no to. So he didn't go back to wyotech.
Wyotech never refunded the money to the loan companies. So we owe for an education my son never recieved. I will never recommend that school. And anyone I hear of that wants to go, I have talked them out of it.

WyoTech screwed up my loan
I went to WyoTech (06-07) on a Private Loan, and WyoTech screwed up the loan financing by not certifying the loan in time (they had the paperwork 3 month in advance! I have documentation for this!) I had to re-finance the loan for a MUCH higher interest rate because I had already completed my first 2 months at WyoTech and was therefore responsible for the whole tuition amount. The school had the loan papers 3 MONTH IN ADVANCE, and I followed up repeatedly regarding the loan being certified by the school. They ALWAYS assured me that everything was "okay"!!! Then - 2 MONTH AFTER I started classes - I got notified that the bank closed the loan application because WyoTech NEVER certified the loan, and after being FORCED to re-finance it, the payback will be over $30-thousand MORE because of the higher interest rate!!!
When I found out about the loan-forgiveness program for WyoTech students, I was advised by one of the Federal Student Loan customer service reps to file a complaint with CFPB (since mine was a private loan). I filed the complaint with CFPB (included all relevant documentation) and this is the response I received: ....(quote) "We reviewed your complaint and couldn’t send it to the company for a response. This could be because WE HAVEN'T REGISTERED THE COMPANY or because your complaint DID NOT INVOLVE A FEDERAL CONSUMER FINANCIAL LAW WITHIN OUR AUTHORITY "(end quote)....What gives???? They "haven't registered the company" (which is WyoTech whom THEY are suing)??? And they're saying that there is NO "Federal Consumer Financial Law" that protects consumers against unfair practices like that???
Yeah, I got a job - NO THANKS to WyoTech, because I started out at $10/hour working as a mechanic for a Taxi company. Finally worked my way up ON MY OWN to ASE Master Technician, and now work at a dealership where luckily I will get additional (paid) training. But even at $14/hour the $300+ monthly student loan payment I'm stuck with because WyoTech screwed up the original low-interest loan is a heavy financial burden, and any "student loan forgiveness" that may result from CFPB's law suit against the Corinthian colleges (incl. WyoTech) will only benefit students with FEDERAL loans. The rest of us are stuck!

I was attending the wyotech in long beach. i was taking auto tech and while i was attending if was alot of favoritism and being races. It was alot of switching teachers and goning over and over on the same subject. There was not really any hands on just class. I have a learning disability and got a note from my doctor that i have to do many times to understand it. Im a very good reader and speller but dont understand what is that i read and other things. Was told that i would be able to take refresher courses i was going to go for my masters that would have maybe gave me enough time to probably understand the terms and how understand things in my own way. I completed auto and was 3-4 months away from my associates i was enrolled in the asm program at the time it was shut down. But my first year it was alot of racism for example i was in class and one person said why are they here all there going to do drop out work on lowriders and sale drugs and i bet you dont even have a high school diploma as well as other things so the nexted day i took my high school diploma and said this is what a mexican looks like with a high school diploma i got it from working because of my disabilty and as far as in concern you want to work in our shops or else what are you doing here wasteing mommy and daddys money crying because you got a B shit im happy i passed and some people are trying to better there lives i never got the education that was promised i went in with my understanding on fixing cars and came out the same i look at everything like a puzzle thats what helps me. and people should be repaid for all there trouble inside and outside the class room.

Job placement is b.s
I attended wyotech from 2010-2011 I studied collision/refinishing and street rod fabrication. They convinced me with 80% job placement if you graduated with a 90% or higher. When I started school they told me that my tuition was completely covered by loans and that I had nothing to worry about. On my 2nd to last day they pulled me into the financing office to tell me that about 25,000 dollars of my tuition was not covered but that I was going to be able to pay the school directly at 0% interest. When I graduated I was trying to find work in Fresno, California where I live after 2 months of me calling they told me that they had no work in the state of California and in Oregon. I moved to Oregon and found a job detailing cars. They kept calling me to see if i had found work yet so that they could get credit for it. I told them that I found I job and it was not because of Wyotech. About a year and a half ago I blew my left knee out. I was unable to work for about 4 months I kept in contact with wyotech in Laramie but apparently their systems are not connected with Corithian colleges and they sent my account to collections. I was trying to get a loan for a house but because it shows on my credit I am unable to get one. All they care about is the money. Biggest mistake of my life. My name is Luis and I got screwed by wyotech

CCi sucks as a company doesnt care about outcome of customers
I was one of the witnesses for the prosecution, and I turned in the Complaint to the Dept of Education and got the whole ball rolling to put them out of business. I was the Dept chair for the Plumbing HVAC program from 2003 to 2008, then taught up until dropping my keys on the desk of the President of the school and quitting, in 2012. The school started of awesome, we had 1500 students in total, and it was Sequoia then, When CCI bought the school in 2004 and changed it to Wyotech. they also changed out all the management from Corporate down to the college level, and started shorting the students materials, and lab activities, then started lying to students about placement and transvers, some where told they would get contractors licenses when they graduated. Then to feed their bonuses, they cut all lab to save money on materials but really boost their bonus, then told us to lie to them and sit them in the class and have them read to each other for four hours a day. Then they started sending sales people to the parole office and to wait outside of san quentin to sign up students, that they could get full student loans for because they have been in prison for years and had no income to show, so they would get full grants and full tuition loans, and then we wouldn't be able to place them when they graduated, you can't get a job in the service trade industry if you have any felony convictions, but they would still have to pay back the 22,000 bucks to the bank. It was a big scam, I complained and complained, and then finally quit, I'm glad they got shut down, and I'm proud that I was a big factor in closing these con artist down.........................All my students got hired because I got on the phone and used my resources and my contacts in the Plumbing trade to get them jobs, all the auto students work at Jiffy Lube, all the HVAC students never got hired, because they didn't earn their grades they were given passing grades to get through...........DON"T GO TO ANY FOR PROFIT SCHOOL, GO TO A STATE UNIVERSITY OR JR COLLEGE, all others are a scam and their diplomas and degrees are meaningless in the trade, mark my word................

Shady School Finally Brought down
I attended Wyotech daytona beach, fl in 2007. I was lead to believe that I would be able to work as a technician at a harley davidson dealership and that average pay was $20.00. I could not find a job when I got out of school and it was very hard to contact them. I had to start in the powersports industry from the ground up after Graduation. After I started Classes at Wyotech, I noticed the teachers were sub par. Most were retired Mechanics that had not formal teaching education. Grading was all done on a curve and it seemed everyone passed. That is unless an individual missed too many hours during a three week period. That student would not be aloud to return to school for 6 weeks. Which forced most kids to move back home. It seemed as though the school was set up as a diploma factory and an easy way to get federal backed money. I made numerous complaints about the educators and curriculum to the student adviser. These complaints were not addressed while I attended the school. I was a so called "Eagle Tech". Which was supposed to mean that I would help fellow students out during class and work on special projects. What it actually meant was that I would work for free as an usher at their graduations and other non education related tasks. One of the things I noticed after graduating from Wyotech was the only contact that I had with Job placement advisers was so they could learn if I received employment. I asked them to quit calling unless it was to help me gain employment. I have not heard from them again. I now have a job in the power sports industry. It was not do to my education. I have spent the last 8 years learning how to be a technician and I am finally making they pay and working the job that I was promised upon entering their school. I still pay student loans that I incurred there at a rate of $400 per month. I still have 21,000 to pay. And I only went to school for 9 months in 2007. I believe these for profit schools need to be held accountable for their crimes and be forced to pay Individuals the money they borrowed for a sub par education.

Hey Instructor, If the school is so good, why did they falsify job placement stats with the U.S. Department of Education? Why did they falsify attendance records to them as well. If you really want to be a Marine Mechanic try Indianhead Technical College in Ashland, WI. It's a REAL college with REAL instructors and you'll get a REAL education. In the first semester alone you'll rebuild 4 engines "on your own". Two outboards, an inboard and a diesel. They limit class sizes so everyone gets hands on time ALL the time. Last I checked they limit each semester to 15-17 people. Most of all it's less expensive then Why-U-Go-There Tech.

My son graduated from Wyotech in June 2014...one month after graduation, a huge article is placed in the Tribune Review saying Wyotech is closing and under investigation. So now what, he goes out for interviews for a job and they say, "dont even mention Wyotech". WoW, just what we needed to hear after loans reaching $27000. I was so proud telling people my son attends the school.....now such a dissapointment and embarressment to my son.. Not sure what I should do next.

Sure blame the recruiters, typical of today's society. First of all, like anything else do your homework. You guys coughed up 9k without speaking to any enrolled students, really? I don't know of any sane person willing to pay 9k based upon a recruiters sales pitch. If you got taken I would say in most cases you deserved it. I enrolled in the Electrician program in Long Beach and I would rate it an 8.5 on a scale from 1 to 10. You better believe I spoke to electrical students out in the parking lot on my own with no instructors or anyone that influence their opinion of the school. No campus living quarters so I don't know about missing items, but to be honest I must ask. Why in the world would you take an $800 pair of earrings to school? Whatever your answer I'm sure it's reasonable now explain to me after doing so, why wouldn't you wear them? after you brought them with you to wear them right? or did just take to show off and tell people, look I own an $800 pair of earrings and leave n display in your dorm or whatever. Well, you can't say you didn't learn a valuable lesson. It's pathetic to listen to you pampered babies whine and complaint about an education for which you didn't inform yourself about. You wouldn't buy a car for 9k without test driving it first, so man up and stop faulting anyone but yourself for not being responsible enough to evaluate the school from different sources and not take the "Recruiters" word as gospel.

My son attended WyoTech Fremont in 2003-04, He graduated with honors, and was placed with Pep Boys. They put him through a 1 year school to be a manager. He worked as both a service manager, and a store manager. 60K a year, I thought that was pretty cool for a 24 year old. after 7 years, he quit, was unemployed for all of three days, and started at Meinike as a service manager.
My wife attended WyoTech Fremont in the HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning. She also graduated near the top of her class. She graduated on Friday and Monday started her new career doing electrical troubleshooting on circuit boards, over the phone. She has been doing that for nearly two years and loves it.
The reason there are so many complaints on this board are, you get out of it what you put into it. WyoTech is employing 72% of their graduates. The folks who have succeeded are at work, and don't have the time to bitch, moan and complain. PS Note the diction and spelling of the complainers. My name is Dave, and OUR school is WyoTech!

I went to wyotech in daytona and graduated in 2010 in the marine program with powersports, as far as learning, I came out with more knowledge than I went in with but there lifetime job placement is bullshit. I was placed with a guy and worked for 1.5 months with no pay, left him, tried to get student services to place me somewhere else and have never heard back from them? Now I'm behind in student loans, unemployed, and still can't get a damn call back. This was the biggest mistake of my life

I have been an instructor at WyoTech Fremont for six years. The administration does a good job hiring. If the instructor is sub par, they will be fired ASAP. We are here for the students. Period. We, the instructors, are mostly either retired or disabled, and want to share the trade with our students. A big problem is the public schools don't offer industrial arts anymore. Our students have to be taught to read a tape measure, and indentify tools. Regardless, when I started here our career services dept was employing 95% right after graduation. Now, we are still employing 72%. I feel that all of these misspelled rants are written by Those 18% less fortunate, The career services dept is a LIFETIME benefit. I have seen HUNDREDS employed while here! My name is Dave, and my school is WyoTech
