I have been purchasing through PayPal for many years. Recently there was some misleading statement regarding my purchase which resulted in my being "given" a PayPal credit account, which I IMMEDIATELY canceled. According to CreditKarma, my FICO dropped a few points with Equifax. Using CreditKarma, I was able to access Equifax and use their online dispute process. I will now just wait and see, if that process results in any changes.

I received a notice that I "requested an account or made a purchase" on 6/17/2015. Comenity ran a credit check on me. I did not request an account or make a purchase using PayPal. What is going on?

There was some problem when I tried to make a transaction that literally pissed me off. So I closed the account and opened a new one assuming that it would be clean. Though I had always been frustrated with PayPal, I created that account only because that particular transaction only allows PayPal transaction. I never applied for credit or filled out any application with my SSN. Ofcourse, I did accept the terms and conditions to open the PayPal account. When I created the account, PayPal forced me to link my bank account to PayPal. I tried to check if I can delete the PayPal credit that I noticed on my PayPal account. But there were no options. I did not suspect that a credit check was run by PayPal because I did not key in my full SSN anywhere, did not fill out an application for line of credit and did not accept anything that prompted my permission to run a credit check. I had been very careful not to apply for any credit to retain good credit. When I pulled my credit report today, it showed that one of the reasons my score is low because I had applied for credit during the past year. Glad I reviewed the complaints on this page before I called. I had to login and get a six digit code to call the customer service. I called PayPal and when I asked if it is ethical for a business to pull a credit without the consent from a consumer, there was no answer. I was firmly asked to say what I want to do at this time. Close the account obviously. Then I was asked to mail or fax a request with a set of information including last four of my SSN if I want to dispute the Credit check. Per the service rep, the inquiry will be canceled if someone else applied for PayPal credit without my knowledge. In my opinion, PayPal proved to have unethical business practice and I am also going to write to BBB on this. Thanks to all those who shared the frustration and the details.

I was checking my Credit Karma and noticed that under the Equifax report that there is a credit inquiry that I did not authorize. It is from CCB/PPC which I looked up and is a PayPal Credit line. So I went to my PayPal and sure enough my account shows that I have a $2000 credit limit. I never approved or requested this line of credit. I'm not sure what I need to do to get the hard inquiry off my credit and make sure the line of credit is closed without dinging my credit any more.

Just found out by checking my Karma Credit Report that CCB/PPC ran an inquiry on my report. I had no knowledge of this and did not give them any permission to do so. I disputed the inquiry so we'll see what happens.

Paypal CCB/PPC pulled my credit without my authorization twince one time in Dec.13,2014 and second time on Jun. 17 2015 resulting in a hard pull with Equifax. this inqueries is hurt my credit rating. Also I was signed up for PayPay credit line without my consent. I never applied for a credit line, this was never authorized and I never plan to use paypal credit.

I, too, had an unauthorized hard credit inquiry from this company, which I just found out about when checking my credit. It hurt my credit rating. I have never had a desire to have a credit line with an oil company.

Ccb/ppc Comenity Bank/PayPal Credit. Submitted an unauthorized hard inquiry on my credit. I would like to file a complaint.

I just got an alert from credit karma of a credit inquiry from CCB/PPC. Don't know who these people are but I am beyond Pissed. I am trying to rebuild my credit. After reading all these other complaints I am glad that its just not me. I didn't even know what this could be from. Tried sending emails to Paypal but no luck. This is not right. Is there anything that we can do about this? I have closed my paypal account and will never use them again but I want the inquiry off my credit!!!

Like many of you, I was automatically signed up for PayPal Credit, without consent. I never applied for a credit line, nor did I see anything while signing up for regular PayPal warning me I was signing up for PayPal Credit. My credit reports were pulled without my consent or any information other than my date of birth and home address (per Equifax). I am in the process of buying a house, and was asked to verify recent credit inquiries. I came across CCB/PPC and was very confused. Come to find out, Paypal and their BillMeLater payments option, ran a hard credit check on me, WITHOUT MY APPROVAL OR SOCIAL. I do not understand how this can be legal. I am imagine it is not, and if I were to call PayPal they would probably talk me in circles. I plan on never EVER using this option again, and I am considering a malpractice suit against them. This hard credit check has affected my credit score and thus has affected my interest rate for my home. Very VERY disappointed in this company and they deception they are involved in. I will subsequently be closing my Capitol One Savings account as well for being associated with them.

Haven't used my paypal in years. Found out from Equifax that CCB/PPC (Comenity Capital Bank c/o PayPal Credit) has placed a hard credit inquiry on me! Never have I EVER authorized them to run a credit check, nor have I ever applied for any of their services that require such information! They have access to my SSN, bank account info, credit card info, birth date, name, address, etc. and I can't help but assume there must be something else going on here. Called PayPal and they told me that my "identity must've been stolen," though after reading all of these, I've come to the conclusion that PayPal and/or PayPal Credit and/or Comenity Capital Bank have been demonstrating malpractice. This is fraud and I'm furious!

A week ago I made a purchase on ebay and of course had to use PayPal then a few days later I got an alert for 3 hard inquires on my credit report from companies I didn't apply for credit from and one of them being CCB/PPC. I tried to dispute them with Equifax and they wouldn't remove them. On top of all that the same day I got the alerts I saw an authorized charge from PayPal on my credit card. I tried contacting PayPal and that was a runaround plus to try to dispute it online they make you set up an account which I definitely don't want. Luckily my credit card company reversed it without a problem but I got another alert from my credit card yesterday and had 11 fraudulent charges on my card. This has been a huge hassle and I definitely won't be using PayPal and will for sure tell everyone I know not to use them either. Really unethical way of conducting business and shouldn't be in business!

CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT COMING TO A PAY PAL NEAR YOU!!!

How can one pull ones credit without 1) authorization to do so and 2) without getting SSN to run the inquiry? As many have stated this is a huge marketing fraud scam built on deception at very least. We have come to find this out as a surprise like most everyone on here > when asked to explain the inquiry from my bank during a Refinance and to explain if any line of credit was established.

I just got an alert from credit karma of a credit inquiry from ccb/ppc. I purchased something from eBay and used PayPal thinking it was a secure site but now it makes me wonder how secure it is. If they are tuning credit checks without your permission who knows what else they are doing with your personal information. I'm trying to rebuild my credit but at this pace I might as well give up. Is there any thing we can do to prevent this from happening. And is eBay involved with this scam, is that why they require PayPal for some of their purchases.and by PayPal having my bank acct information is my money safe?

I have a new hard inquiry on my credit report from Pay Pal (CCB/PPC) that I DID NOT AUTHORIZE.
I never applied for a credit line with them and hope you can help remove this from my credit.
This was never authorized and I never plan to use paypal credit.

Paypal now using deceptive practices in order to get customers to establish a line of credit with them. Shame on them. After several years of using them I will now cancel my account and dispute this line as unauthorized.

I am in the process of refinancing my condo and the bank is asking about an inquiry on my credit report dated January, 2015
from ccb/ppc. I just looked it up online and saw all these complaints. If this is Paypal, please be advised that I have NEVER
used Paypal and never would. No one had permission from me to make a credit inquiry and I have not asked for nor received
additional credit. Someone needs to put a stop to this.

Just got an alert that a hard pull was made on my Equifax credit report for CCB/PPC - Comenity Bank/PayPal Credit. I have a PayPal account but have not used it in about 5 years. I have no idea why this happened. It caused a drop in my score and I am furious. It is obvious from reading over all these posts that I am not the only one this has happened to. Wth is going on? If this is some sort of trick by PayPal, they need to be stopped. Stopped and sued for damages. I work my tail off to keep my score up and they get to just come in, pull my credit and dent my score?

Just found a hard credit inquiry from CCB/PPC

I'm so upset look at my credit report every month and found this on it never did I ever sign up for a credit card yes I have PayPal to make purchases with but at no point did I check off or sign up for a loan

Yes, I have a complaint because I was making a payment for a small purchase that I bidded on through ebay using my paypal account and they put it through like I was applying for a paypal credit line which I did not want, and It showed up on a credit report. I didn't even ask for or sign anything regarding a credit line.
