Ecco Oxford Disintegrate During Job Interview
My very nice-looking Ecco Oxfords underwent disintegration as I was walking to a job interview. As I had only 5 minutes until my appointment, there was nothing I could do but proceed. I continued on in the pouring rain to the office. The interview went well but my shoes left chunks of sole all over the place. This was very embarrassing! Fortunately we were able to laugh about it.
I will attempt to return the shoes. Of course I have no receipt, they are a few years old. We'll see what happens. Must say I've own a number of pairs of Ecco but I've lost my trust in this brand!

Ecco shoes disintegrated
The most embarrassing moment is when my wife's Ecco shoes completely disintegrated inside the David Jones department store in front of other customers.
It looks like Ecco is using poor quality recycle rubber sole. What a shame. It is not worth the price we paid.

Ecco shoe rubber soles disintegrating
Both my daughter and I have had our Ecco shoe rubber soles disintegrate while we would normally have expected these soles should be as long lasting as the uppers which are still in perfect condition! These shoes have not been abused or worn excessively! Very disappointed with Ecco which we love for comfort and style. What can Ecco do to restore our confidence??

Ecco Shoes Soles
I just got out a pair of shoes that have been in a closet for 2-3 years. The suede top looked fine, and they fit fine - but when I walked into a tile room, the soles were sticking to the floor. I tried to clean them, and discovered they were still "tacky" and had cracks through the rubber-like soles. After doing research on-line, it seems this is a common problem for Ecco shoes and some other brands. One site recommends using a vacumn-sealed method to make the soles last longer when not in use. I don't know if this will work or not, but I won't be buying Ecco shoes again.

Mena ecco shoes
I have just purchased in Dubai a new pair of ECCO shoes, because I believed ECCO shoes are most comfortable as I had used it before.
But to my disappointment, the shoes are most uncomfortable, I have returned 1 pair and replaced by other. Even the other one is like wearing a wooden pair of shoes.
I am not happy wearing this shoe. I have used it for 1 day for work, my feet hurt with this shoes. I am hoping some magic will happen and the shoes turn comfortable.
I want my money back and you can take the shoe back. But the shop says because I have used shukran card, I will not be refunded.
Please help,
Alex Fernandes (on visit to Dubai for 2 weeks)

Disintigrating Shoe Soles
Hi everyone. I am having the same issues as many others. I have always loved Ecco shoes, but the rubber soles on nearly all the pairs I own are disintigrating, even those pairs that are in great condition otherwise. Some soles are literally falling apart just sitting in the closet. IF this company offered some kind of recall or service incentive I would stick with this company, since I've always felt they were a better and more comfortable shoe. Now however, the experience has left me disappointed and I'll be looking to replace my shoes with another manufacurer.

Sole Disintegration
My husband bought 2 pairs of Ecco shoes & both soles have disintegrated & he hardly wore either of them! Extremely disappointed. As far as I can tell - none of this is under their lifetime warranty...correct me if I'm wrong though. Will not be purchasing another pair of Ecco.

soles of ecco shoes
I have been wearing Ecco shoes since mid 1990s. In the past several years, I have noted that the soles of the shoes begin to fall apart even though the upper parts remain in good or sometimes very good conditions. I had to subsequently throw away ecco track shoes, ecco track boots, ecco track shoes, ecco sandals because their soles just fell apart. I used to wear each pair for 4-5 years at least, which meant that their high price would pay off. Now I get to wear them for about 2 years. Even my latest buy - hiking shoes, which I wore about 20 times in total (cause I wore them when hiking only) - show significant wear on soles while everything above the sole is still looking new. Whether it is because Ecco introduced this not very good technology of casting soles or general decline in quality I think I am done with buying Ecco shoes for any purpose.

Bought a pair of Darren Birch Faggio boots from Ecco store here, in less than two years the sole has disintegrated and months of back and forth with the company have yielded horrible experiences. They refuse to honor their global warranty and it's been a horrible experience dealing with this company. Please don't purchase any of their products.

disintegrating sole heels of ecco shoes
I bought a pair of brown mens work ecco shoes some two years ago or so and probably only worn them off and on for about a year.
Put them on the other day and noticed smalll poieces of black substance coming off bottom of shoes / soles. The shoes' heels disintegrated and I was most embarrassed as work colleagues werre asking what 'all that black stuff was?' that was comoing from my ecco shoes. The shoes are now unable to be worn as the support material in the heels has fallen away1 I have the shoes and can send them for review if required. Disappointing end to what should be a quality pair of shoes!

ECCO Shoes - Sole
It started a few years back when my wife's ECCOs started falling apart. However, i was so convinced that it was not her ECCO shoes, but strictly her fault not wearing them properly and not taking care of them. For the past 15 years i have been admiring ECCO for its comfort and durability. My first pair of sneakers lasted me about 7 years that i wore on a daily basis and could not "kill" so that i could buy a new one. After my first pair of ECCOs i was so convinced that this is the best shoes i could ever have. I put all my attention to ECCOs only and refused to look elsewhere. Since then i had about 7 pairs of ECCO. I even convinced my wife to get 3 pairs for herself. Thus, i did not believe her when she pointed out to the sole disintegration. A year after the sole on my daily dress up ECCOs started to fall apart. i refused believing that it was my shoes, and blamed myself for abusing by wearing them on a daily basis. So, i pulled out another pair of the shelf that i purchased a few years back and wore them once in a while ( 3 times a year ) and was so excited that it was a time for me to put them in use. However, they lasted a few weeks at most before they started to fall apart. Guess what? within 3 months all my 7 pairs of Ecco shoes were thrown away due to one "forking" issue "THE SOLE".
If some one from ECCO will be reading this, please note, i'm not buying your shoes any more. your rubbish compressed soles suck. if you will not change the material you will be bankrupt.

Ecco Shoes Disintegrating
I bought a pair of Ecco slip ons last February on sale. Aside from wearing them around the house for an hour a day for two weeks to break them in, I did not wear them daily until a month ago when I started a six week work related visit to a city 4000 km from where I live. They were the only shoes that I brought with me. Within three weeks, the soles were disintegrating. I contacted the local Ecco store and explained the situation and the facts that I did not buy them in an Ecco store and did have the receipt with me. They told me that it did not matter where I bought them, Ecco stood behind their product, and to bring them in. They were worse than unhelpful. They claimed that the shoes were four years old and called me a liar for my claim that they were new in February and that I had only being wearing them daily for three weeks. I left the store when they threatened to call security to remove me. I have had many pairs of Ecco shoes, but I will never buy them again.

Disintegrating soles on golf shoes
My husband purchased a pair to Florida to wear when over here on holiday. Be lucky if he's worn them 20 times since he bought them due to 2 knee surgeries in the last 2 years. He took them out the box to wear to golf and the soles had disintegrated. Went to the Ecco shop last week and they said bring them in and get a new pair. We went last night but they only offered $30 as they cannot find them on the system now. We told them what we paid for them $159.99 obviously don't believe us. Offered to give us the company to phone to repair them. As we live in Scotland its wont be easy and going home soon. Very disappointed with the service as they know about the problem and should be exchanging them as a goodwill gesture. We will never buy another pair. I was tempted to tell people in the shop last night not to buy them.

Sole problems
Hello,
I have thrown an almost brand new ecco shoes which I wear along some other shoes. I wore it and suddenly the back of the sole opened and black powder came off causing imbalance.
I have a second one, around USD300 which I rarely use.
I was surprised to find out last week its both soles are ripping off.
I took it to ecco shop in Mall of the Emirates, they came back to me that they cannot repair it, they cannot compensate in any way.
So basically what happened is That I went to ecco shop, I gave them money in exchange for 2 shoes and then throw the shoes!!
In other words: It is like donating money to ecco stores!!!
Ecco should recall all their problematic shoes and make compensations

Rubber Sole Disintegrated
I nearly fell when I got off my car yesterday morning. A big chunk of my left ECCO rubber sole came off causing me to lose my balance. A couple of steps further to my office, the same thing happened to my right shoe. I think the grooves on the sole went too deep causing pronounced weak points
This pair of ECCO was about 18 months old and I wore them in rotation among 9 other pairs of shoes. I paid about $200 for them, not really expensive but not exactly cheap either but I have seen shoes cost a lot less lasting a lot longer.
After seeing other similar comments, I shall buy no more ECCO though they are quite comfortable to wear.

Rubber Sole Disintegrated
So I am not the only one. I have a pair of ECCO which I wear in rotation (among 8 pairs). When I got off my car yesterday, I lost my balance and nearly fell as part of the left rear sole came off. A couple of steps more as I walked to my office, the same thing happened to the right shoe. There are some grooves on the rubber sole which I believe were too deep causing weak points.
They cost me about $ 200, not exactly expensive but not really cheap too. I have seen much cheaper shoes lasting much longer.

Soles disintegrate
I read other's reports here, and I know exactly what they mean. Sole is okay for a period. Suddenly one day the sole is sticky while walking. Next thing, there are pieces of sole on the ground, such that you don't know what they are, it's just there is now pieces of some rubber-like substance on the kitchen floor that you can't explain the appearance of. At some point after that (that day, or maybe one or two wears later) you look at the bottom of your shoe and notice that there is part of the sole missing. Now you know where the rubber-like substance appearing on the floor is from. From there, things get worse quickly, with the entire sole disintegrating over the next 2-3 uses.
To be clear, I had four pairs of Ecco shoes, from work shoes to bush walking boots and a dress shoe. One pair of work shoes were cheaper, and the other shoes and boots were at the more expensive end of the ecco range. This sole-disintegration happened with all pairs.
The best part about reading this thread is the realisation that it is "not just me". When you contact Ecco, they make you feel as though you are the person using the shoes the wrong way. The written response in an email sent to me, which I now suspect is a template ready to be sent by Ecco, says "We recommend to rotate the shoes on a regular basis as the soles needs friction. An example: If you have a rubberband and leave it the drawer for to long it will snap easily."
That response from Ecco makes enough sense that people, at least I, accepts that $300-$400USD shoes/boots which have been treated with the utmost care have soles that disintegrate. In particular, once the first pair of soles disintegrated, I tried to take better and better care of my sother Ecco hoes, with the same disintegration results. Ecco also makes out that this is reasonable; to be clear, NO other shoe by ANY other company has done this with the way I use my shoes. I wonder how many customers are out there and have been told that the disintegration is their fault and have quietly accepted that fact, without realising "No, it is not just their method of using the shoes - many people are having the same problem with Ecco shoes!"
I have stopped using Ecco shoes. No worth it.

Sticky Soles on Ecco Shoes
It is obvious that my complaint of sticky and disintegrating soles on my Ecco shoes is not new. We recently moved house and the shoes were in storage for several months. Once unpacked I noticed that the sole were sticky and in places lumps had fallen off the heel.
I contacted Ecco who ignored my emails and only after suggesting that they had the decency to reply did I get any response. I was then passed from one person to other for several weeks before someone appeared to take any interest in the problem. They asked for the shoes to be posted back to them, but I felt after their lack of response, once I had posted the shoes to them they would just go away taking my shoes with them.
I suggested they replace the shoes and I would then post the shoes to them. This was not acceptable to them even though I forwarded this website which showed that as a company they were aware of this problem.
My advice, buy another brand shoe and don't bother to try and get any customer service from Ecco as they do not understand the term - Customer Service.
I vote them a 'Heel' of a shoe company with no sole - unless it is sticky!

Ecco polyurethane soles disintegrating
Like many other consumers, I have just had the astonishing experience of having the soles of an UNWORN pair of shoes disintegrate. Ecco has been my brand of choice for the last 7 years, and I have at least 8 pair. I purchased a pair of unworn shoes from a private party who stated they had been in storage for a couple of years. They were in pristine, absolutely unworn condition and they were gorgeous. I put them on to wear in my kitchen while I prepped a meal. I immediately noted they felt as though they were sticking to the tile floor and joked about my dog leaving something sticky. Within ten minutes, I actually felt the shoe collapse, and looked down to see a gaping crater in the side of the shoe. There was a trail of black rubbery crumbs all over my kitchen, and the other shoe was cracking across the sole as well. My research has gleaned that this type of Ecco's polyurethane soles must be worn frequently or it has a hydrolytic reaction and crumbles. Now I can understand a company being reluctant to replace worn or abused shoes. But to stick their customers with products that are sold with a known defect is unacceptable. I'm going to try to pursue getting a replacement pair but it appears that without an original receipt dated within the last year, I will likely be turned away without recourse. I'm also understandably nervous about relying on my other shoes. With a lot of international travel expected in the next two years, what goes in my suitcase is expected to serve me well.

Soles melted off in chunks
These were low top Goretex leather boots made for hiking. Really comfortable I might ad. I kept them at my cabin at the lake for walking the trail around the lake. I slipped them on last week for a short hike and when I took my first step out the door they started picking up small gravel and sticks. They were embedded into the semi molten rubber on the soles. The more I walked the more weight I picked up with all the rocks. Soon those rocks were poking me through my socks. The uppers were still in excellent shape but the sole had melted away and on the way back to my cabin I could follow where I had walked by the chunks of melted rubber that I had left behind in my short hike. I know one thing.......if it says Ecco on any shoe or boot run away....far away.
