Beware of this scam.

Beware of switching - you will be told how much you will save, but the numbers don't lie - Xoom $1.39 per therm, PSEG $0.29 per therm. Can't get away from these crooks fast enough. It's very obviuos that some posters on this mesage board work for ACN (toby, pati0154, squozen, Twells20, Catcar12691) - keep lining your pockets. My bill for Feb and March came to over $1300! Sickening - run as far away from this ripoff as possible, don't believe it, no matter who tells you that you will save - you won't.

Bill almost 1000.00 for February and March

When I join them I was told I could save money over bge. Went for .10 a kilowatt to .20 a kilowatt
Just got a bill for 580.00 for February and 470.00 bill for March
I live in a small apartment my bill has never been over 200.00 ever

Overpriced

XOOM is cheating people out of their hard-earned money. There´s been no saving for us, quite the contrary. This month, we´re being charged $562.73 just for their "supply charges", not including what Pepco charges us for electricity, and last month was no better.
Yes, it´s time for a thorough investigation into how this company operates.

SCAM - VERY HIGH RATES

Was introduced to this "Energy Company" through ACN business opportunity - they presented themselves as a less costly alternative to both JCP&L (First Energy) and PSE&G (Public Service Electric & Gas). The bottom line here is that THEY ARE NOT LESS EXPENSIVE! - To give you an idea this month alone I paid $368.01 MORE for my GAS and $134.51 MORE for Electric versus what I would have paid from the utilities default supplier. DONT BELIEVE THE HYPE! You will end up paying significantly more if you "switch" to this so called supplier. If you complain.. they will say that you should commit to a lower 6 month "fixed" rate program as opposed to the variable rate program ....which I investigated and it actually was still more expensive (based on the last 6 mos rates) AVOID this COMPANY at all costs!

Not happy with Xoom

My buddy told me about Xoom a year or so ago. I cannot recall if he pushed me or not - but he introduced me to the company - saying I would get better gas pricing. Pricing was fine for the summer - but this winter - my bills have skyrocketed. I paid $376 last month! I never paid over $200 with Consumers Energy. I compared Xoom and Consumers today - and Xoom is charging more than double for gas.
I called Xoom - and they asked for my phone number. I gave them several numbers - and none of them were listed. They asked my email - and that verified me. However - I asked what phone number was on the account. It was my buddy's phone number!
Why is his phone number on my account? He doesn't live in my house.
So - I read more about Xoom and ACN and learn its a MLM company.
My question is this - is my buddy's phone number on my account to track my usage - so that he can be paid a commission or residual???
Who knows the answer to my question?

I EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUES. I NEVER SAW SAVINGS AND MY WIFE AND HER DAUGHTER KEPT SAYING BECAUSE OF WINTER THE USAGE IS MORE THAT IS WHY... CLOSED MINDED SUCKERS
THEN I SPOKE WITH FEW SUPERVISORS AND INVESTIGATED MYSELF... XOOM CAN RAISE THIER PRICE WITHOUT NOITCE AND THEIR CHARGE IS NOT REGULATED... THAT IS HOW THEY KNOW TO FUCK PEOPLE THROUGH ACN AND OTHER BULLSHITS, AND THE PERSON WHO SIGNS UP GETS A CHUNK OF MONEY EACH TIME I PAY A BILL/
AND THE ONE WHO IS SUPPORTING THIS .... JUST FUCK OFF

over priced

To those out there that are getting a fare share! What the Hell! Xoom energy the minute my contract was up went up 3 times the rate from before. Not only that but my local gas company, in spite of the harsh winter was way less. from Xoom. 1.29 dte, was at .474, less than xoom. 54 complaints thru the BBB, all for over priced gas. Time for a class action suit. This company charges that we are the blame. Really! Price gouging is no excuse.. For all you direct sales, half at it. I will never support Xoom energy again. Good luck with that!

Energy service

What the hell people? You all need to get educated. These comments about Xoom Energy are ridiculous! This company has the largest footprint in the USA. They are regulated in every state. Their rates are very competitive. Fixed rates are .10 per kilowatt in CT fixed for 1 or 2 years and .088 fixed for the first 6 months and the variable rate is .089.

This company sells their service thru multilevel marketing just as any other direct supplier does! This is the best form of marketing, no advertising costs therefore savings passed on to the consumer! Educate yourself on what this form of marketing is about! Take a look at the top direct selling companies are, such as Avon, Amway, Market America, etc. ACN is in the top 10! This company has been in business for 21 years. They have a great business plan. You should really get on board and learn how to make a serious income.

Get educated folks - you are totally missing out!

Switched my suppier without my consent

I handle the utilities for my real estate company. I do not change supplies in between tenants. There is no point because it may be for just a few days or a week at most. We go through a different supplier for our HSE METERS but those bills are constant and do not change. Well I received a notice from my AEP regarding my switch to Xoom Energy Ohio LLC. Problem is I did not switch. These sales reps some how are changing my supplier with out my knowledge. The letter states that I have until this certain date to cancel. I have call AEP and switched back when I got the notice. When I called Xoom they had no documentation of the switch. However, I gave them the name of the last person who lived at that address and they came up, only he was under the gas bill there. Strange coincidence? I think it's safe to say when that person moved out they automatically try to force the next account holder to do the switch with them. How else would this happen. CSR at Xoom sure didn't know how this happened!

BE VERY CAREFUL AND WARY. XOOM's rates are currently 5 time higher then PSEG. We all hear the same thing....save money, get money back. Bull. My bill....$551.....had I not switched....$235. I only have myself to blame for trying to help out a friend....never again.

DOUBLED THE BILL WITHOUT NOTICE

We lived in our current residence for 9years. The most our gas & electric bills run around. $480. Today we found just our ZOOM gas bill was $500.00. That is $500.00 we don't have. My husband switched to this company because he felt pressured to do it because a friend asked him to switch. We are devastated that our rates were variable. This company is a scam so the energy sales people made a ton of $$$ on your expense. The phony sales reps are having lavish dinners, get aways trips and winning electronics for prizes. The BIG kicker is if you try to change back, it is a 60 day process. We will now endure another 2 months of $500.00 Xoom bills all by changing our PSEG carrier to Xoom. Major, major mistake. Sad how they are getting away with this! My next letter is to the BBB. I'm going to try to make sure this does not happen to another person.

Xoom Energy

Very disappointed in Xoom Energy by ACN. They jacked up their rates this winter to 0.1999 where BGE and other electric companies remain between .08999 and .09999. As you can see, Xoom is double that price. My electric bill was astronomical due to this gouge in price. I signed up to support a friend, but when they heard of this absurd pricing, they dropped were in support of canceling the service from Xoom. Now let's talk about the customer service. The service agent was rude and did not care about my concern over the absurd pricing. She mentioned how competitive Xoom was with other service agencies, however, could not explain the almost 10 cent difference in pricing! Xoom is a scam! I should have been more cautious when I learned of the pyramid type procedure. If you are thinking of signing up with Zoom Energy by ACN - DON'T and if you are with Xoom Energy currently - CANCEL!

My rates have doubled in 1 month, when I contacted Zoom Energy, they said they were not regulated by Utility Commission and what they charge is LEGAL.

HIGH Rates!

SIgned up as a favor for a "friend" ans was guaranteed savings. I did not believe I would save money but never dreamed I would now be charged $1.49 per thermal unit when the public utility company (PSEG) is currently charging $0.388 per thermal unit. This company is nothing but a scam and anyone defending it is obviously involved in the pyramid scam known as ACN. SCAM!!!

Stop Complaining

After reading these complaints I'm disgusted. Please don't down a very legit company. I and many family and friends have experienced savings of 3 to 5% . At the end of the day Xoom explains everything on the contract and has openly stated "They want to put everything on one bill to save customers more money, but SO CAL GAS just won' t comply" The real issue is the fact no one could read there bill prior to having an option and now that we do most don't understand the change and automatically think 2 bills means more money. Please stop bashing a company that is doing its job with integrity, and talk to theUtility companies about being compliant so we can all save more!

Xoom energy robbed me

Switched to Xoom energy because of a friend who was with ACN at the time. Signed up for the one year contract, my energy cost has been more than what I was paying when I was with pse&g. Called Xoom to see what was going on and the gal on the other end was no help to say the least! I was paying PSE&G $162, delivery charges and on the back page was the admin Fee for Xoom of $395 and supply portion. A $558 bill which is normally 200+-. I wanted to know why Xoom was charging so much and what was this admin fee...well no help, but she was very helpfully in switching me back to PSE&G...which I confirmed by calling pse&g.

Anyway, frustrating and I really didn't see any savings....I'd stay away from Xoom and am sorry I ever signed up!
Btw, after being with Xoom for 1 year, I never got any emails, or notices about anything. After canceling yesterday, today is the first time I got an email from Xoom telling me how to save energy and prepare for the upcoming winter storm....lol do not sign up with this company. You were forewarned!

XOOM Isn't the Culprit: the Big Providers Are

My sister has been getting double-billed by PG&E since gas service started for her last summer. She has paid every bill and has proof. Today, she found out what was really going on, so everyone apply this scenario to your own situation and you'll see why XOOM has kept their word.

PG&E won't talk to her because they say it's a billing issue between her and XOOM when, in reality, PG&E has only paid XOOM a PORTION OF ONE BILL out of the many that she has paid in full (you still pay the big gas/electric provider and they, in turn, are supposed to forward that money to XOOM).

The only reason that XOOM gets involved is this: Since your money went through the big provider first and never made it to XOOM and, furthermore, the big provider is telling XOOM that you haven't paid your bill, XOOM has no way to validate otherwise and notifies you.

XOOM is not the scam; the big providers are. Now, go forth, get your facts straight and deal with the real problem.

To those of you who are sour on Xoom, have you checked the rates of all the other energy providers? Yes, the 'monopoly' too? Well I have CL&P and my bill from last month to this month MORE than doubled. Yes, MORE THAN DOUBLED. And I have the so called 'monopoly'. Those companies that advertise the lowest rates such as the flyer I received from North American Power at ($.0799) are being deceitful unless you read the small print. The small print reads that NAP of $.0799 rate is for the FIRST month only. CL&P's will be .0923 next month but with ACN's Xoom you can lock in my area for $.0880. I've already switched. It appears from all of the comments I've viewed below that all of these comments have been posted from disgruntled employees, not customers. Many people enter the marketing arena with unrealistic expectations of 'quick money' and it is just not like that. They are mad because they did not want to put the effort that any new business owner would. With energy such a volatile commodity right now, there will be many growing pains just like the break up of ma bell twenty or so years ago. Some of those third parties that are severely undercutting will be gone the way of MCI which encountered financial difficulties and was subsequently gobbled up by Verizon. Going with a company simply because of the lowest price does not ensure the company is in good financial shape. If your energy rate was much above that check to see that you did not opt for the "green" or reusable energy which is more expensive. If you still feel you are being overcharged it is very possible there was a clerical error, eh? We all are human and we all know that because it has happened to all of us at one time or another. I have seen on many other web site complaint blogs trashing of this industry, as well as the insurance, etc. Most of these complaints are from non performing marketing/sales reps that would rather complain than to work hard to help their customers and for their own business. Get the facts before you trash a whole company or industry.

Misplaced Anger

People come on here to complain but don't understand. Your utility process change quarterly. Seems like they are so low now, but they will adjust. Dereg companies that the news is going after change every month. Wait till the utility goes through the roof from this record cold winter in about 2 months. At which time these dereg companies the news is bashing will be way cheaper. These companies spiked from the weather first, and will drop first too. Learn before you post people. And switch if you like, just in time for the utility to go way up and XOOM to be already back down. It is called variable, and commod prices will effect everyone.

Xoom Energy. Scam.

Total scam. They promise slightly lower rates for the first 3 months then it goes up. We are with PSE&G in Northern NJ. My wife signed up to help a friend who worked for ACN selling their service. During summer months we didn't see big difference, but over the past two months, December and January, we were paying almost a $100 or roughly 35% more a month than we would with PSE&G gas supply. I called to switch back to PSE&G, but it takes 6 weeks to process the request. As a result we are stuck with XOOM for most of the winter, costing us hundreds of dollars. STAY AWAY!

I NEVER make complaints...however after receiving a $500 light bill which is double my normal bill, I have to write and say that I am furious. Stay away from Xoom unless you like paying more. By the way I joined ACN, I am done with that too as I can't in good faith represent a company that rips people off.

Total SCAM

I was sucked into this deregulation with the thought of saving so much money, however, I have never paid as much money as I pay now. I was so disgusted that I was able to terminate the service completely! I am so disappointed with the service costs and and the misleading information of my family saving money. I would warn ANYONE, do not be convinced with their misleading info. I learned my lesson....never again. I stay with the monopoly company. Just because there are so many high end people affiliated with ACN, does;t mean they are doing any good. Most of these people are FULL of SCAMS!

This company is the biggest SCAM we've ever heard of! We receive bills from both SoCal Gas and Xoom for the same service. Our gas bills are higher than ever! We were promised LOWER bills when we signed up as a favor to a family member who got caught up in this pyramid scheme. We have cancelled the service and were told we will have to pay a $25 early cancellation fee, which we will NOT pay because we were misled as to the savings we were to receive with Xoom. BUYER BEWARE!

xoom energy contract ended they keep charging me

We were talked into using xoom energy by a friend who worked there, big mistake. We waited for the contract to end and called for 4 months to get xoom to notify our gas company that they were signing off on the contract. Our gas company will not allow us to go off xoom unless they are notified by xoom that the contract is expired. Of course every month we are getting large bills and when you call customer service (after waiting at least 45 minutes on hold) they say that they already notified the gas company, etc. etc. etc. Now I am refusing to pay the bills from xoom but I am sure that will create more problems eventually. I am thinking of taking them to small claims court to force them to end the contract. DONT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!
